Am i the only person who doesn't like the new update?I can't imagine i so but i'm looking for other 360 owners perspectives

I take issue with the huge amounts of advertising on literally every tab(I thought being a paid for service would eliminate advertising to some degree)

They could also mitigate viewing the tabs by at least making the adverts unobtrusive, now we're left staring at a page 60% full of adverts with a tiny little box that says 'Play Game'..because oh yeah this console actually plays games

How about an option to at least re-arrange where everything is?why can't i make the things that do interest me most prominent

And to top it all off you "have" to accept the update or you can't connect to Live, total BS.That's like buying a car and being told if you don't update to better tires you can't drive the damn thing, you can only sit inside with the radio on

Thoughts?

p.s maybe I just needed to let off some steam but I can't be the only one who feels this way..right?

How much time do you honestly spend looking at that screen anyways ? I understand that it might annoy you to some extent , but it really is not that big a deal . As for being force to accept , well Xbox LIVE is a service , the xbox it self is not . To use their service you must agree to their terms , and if you don't want to accept , you don't get access to their service ( which is xbox live ) but you can still play offline with the xbox if you wish . Makes perfect sense to me .

Your car metaphore is wrong btw . You have to see the difference between a service and a product .

I assume this came out today as I didn't seea system update last night.

Have they made it any easier to hide offline?
I don't mind what they do with the UI really, I just want them to allow me to watch Netflix on my silver account so I can use my gold to play damn games!

Not entirely serious, maybe.

Accepting the update or being kicked offline is nothing new, so that doesn't surprise me.

As for the UI - I think the UI looks like shit, honestly. I don't understand the philosophy that went into it.

Seems like every consecutive Xbox update that changes the UI makes it look worse and worse every time. An option to rearrange the clusterfuck onscreen would be ideal, but I doubt we'll ever see this option. It's irritating paying for this 'service' and having 5 adverts -each with their own dedicated panel- thrown into my dashboard. It's a mess, really.

In the end, I guess I don't care about it all that much since I only use my 360 for games and netflix anyway. But I can't stop myself from saying "wow, this is terrible." every time my xbox starts up.

The Xbox's UI has always looked like shit, just different 'flavors' so to speak. As for the adverts, yeah it's bollocks that I'm paying what, $60 a year for a Gold Membership, and I have to deal with all this advertising, but it's also expected because it's Microsoft. I just wish they'd let me remove the tabs for bing, music, and movies as I use none of those.

The recommended games is a joke. Hey you played a game that has letters in the title. You might like this game that has letters in the title

Erm, can't say I've noticed any more advertising than before. But then I turn it on and go straight into the game so yeah, do that.

I'm fine with advertising. Hell, sometimes, there's a trailer for a film or game that I was actually interested in.

But damn, it's ugly.

Of course, I should give it time. I might not simply be used to it, and I like the "recommended" feature on the marketplace and that indie games have been given a highly section all of their own.

Yeah it's bullshit, but what can you do? Stop using a console you paid hundreds of monies for, and with which an assumed substantial part of your gaming collection will only work with?

I hate it. Every update makes the interface worse. It's harder and harder to find my content and search the marketplace every time. And I pay WAAAAAY too much money for Xbox LIVE to be subjected to advertisements as well. Goddamnit.

Oh yea, and it is hideous. I don't really care about that though, I just want it to be sleek and functional.

That's probably the biggest kick in the nuts, really. If the service were free, then yah, advertising is kinda mandatory to make money, but for god's sake, the service keeps increasing in price yet the advertising increases along with it, what the hell, Microsoft?

My biggest gripe with it though is how on the Home tab, right in the middle of your screen in the biggest box available, is a bunch of scrolling ads. Maybe if it was off to the side it'd be ok, but ads? I wish i could see the game art that appears in the little box to the side show up there, instead. That'd be neat to see the Skyrim logo in that big box, but nope.

I agree with you on the advertising, it's getting bigger every time. Getting some loading issues with the marketplace aswell...taking ages to open pages. *whinge whine*

How do I feel about the update? Well, let's see:

> UI is now even more cluttered with adverts and other superfluous "features"
> dashboard and OS are now slower and less fluid than before
> Microsoft STILL hasn't fixed the God-damned messaging and party systems
> it's still awkward and slow to browse files from an external source (external harddrive, usb thumb drive, etc)

To name a few.

Needless to say, I'm as disgusted with this update as I've been with the last few.

Frankly, I question why I still keep this thing...
