Athens, Sparta, Hoplites, Socretes, Plato, Aristotle, Alexander the Great, and what have you.

And mind you this is a VERY short teaser.

So we are going even furthur back in time, the last game Assassin's Creed Origins took place when Julius Caesar and Cleopatra was around.

And thus Assassin's Creed: Ninja, or Assassin's Creed World War 2 still eludes us :(

I can be Achilles! (in my head).

I should look at Origins at some point. I heard the world is great, and its a bit... better? combat wise.

Unless you actually play Odysseus and do his good ol' journey, meeting all the Gods, cyclops, sirens and big titted witches he did, I ain't interested.

That'd actually be a good opportunity for Black Flag sailing system comeback. Now i'm more intrigued.

EDIT: Nvm. Forgot that AC doesn't fantastic elements(Does it?).

Actually, Ubisoft took a years break before releasing Origins (2017), since Syndicate came out 2015, and Odyssey is coming out 2019, so it doesn't seem to be yearly anymore. After Unity crapped the bed, which caused the superior Syndicate to crash and burn as well, Ubisoft decided maybe a yearly release wasn't such a good idea. And, honestly, Origins is one of the better AC games. It took a while for the game to grow on me, because I have an aversion to change, but the game is certainly better than most in its series.

I'm kinda interested. Odyssey seems like it's going to be a lot like Origins, which seems obvious considering the praise Origins got. It isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I'd still like to see some substantial differences between Odyssey and Origins aside from setting. Hopefully we'll get a good look at it during E3.

I honestly dont know. There were aliens in the Egpyt one and I vaguely remember fighting the Flying Duchman in Black Flag as well as magical Aztec armor.
But I dont know for sure. It's all false memories anyway so they can just say this is how assassins remember events

AC Origins does have the Trial of the Gods or something like that. Most likely glitches in the animus (I haven't done any of them myself), but in them Baek is tasked with fighting and defeating gods such as Anubis, so it isn't impossible that we'll be fighting gods in Odyssey. The origin god fights are a lot like the Ra's Al Ghul boss fight in Batman Arkham City.

As someone currently traversing Origins, there are most certainly some ungrounded events, of which being an understatement. One last night, though not wishing to spoil, left me dumbfounded at what madness was occurring on my screen as part of a sidequest found amongst the map.

Odyssey, eh? Does that mean the player throws their hat around to possess targets? Would definitely makes the assassinations more interesting.

"Sir, the general was just killed by a goat! And the admiral slathered himself in olive oil and threw himself into a fire after shoving a wine bottle up his arse!"

"That was a waste of perfectly good olive oil."

In all seriousness, to be expected. I expect the usual AC tedium and bloated design.

They should have the main character assassinate all the Greek gods and goddesses, then kill himself in shame, but the next game can be set ancient Scandinavia, where the same guy somehow shows up with some kid to assassinate the Norse gods, but this time with an axe.

Well, as settings go, Ancient Greece is pretty cool. Though that does beg a question for me in that have the Templar Order always gone by that name or did it crop up at about the same time as the actual Knight's Templar order?

Either way, enjoy SassyCreedo fans.

That's all well and good, but where's my Assassin's Creed Iliad?

Also, if you're basing AC on the Odyssey, aren't you kind of shooting yourself in the foot? No Circe, no Scylla or Charybdis, no cyclops, etc.

Cool setting, still not Japan, but cool.

Origins got a lot of praise but it doesnt look very appealing to me. I'll probably pass on this too.

Not that I disagree, but what does a lady type add if the gameplay is shit and the story is tired and repetitive and its just the same game in a slightly older time period?

Like what good does it do to play as Helen of Troy, re-imagined as Lara Croft in the past, if you just run around collecting collectibles, do random side quests, and follow a balls silly main story involving proto but obvious assassins against evil proto but obvious templars?

Yup. It was the most pleasant surprise of 2017 for me. I did not expect a game like that from Ubisoft. But they seem to be turning things around a bit. Far Cry 5's not bad either.

Apparently you'll get your wish. Leaks seem to suggest that you'll be able to select a male or female character at the start of the game. Also, dialogue options? Ubisoft's embracing even more RPG elements.

Apparently, but I'm left to ask how that even works. The Animus taps into genetic memory from distinct individuals. Unless reality itself shifts to accomodate the player choice, not sure how that's meant to work in-universe.
