Power Rangers Mega Force was trademarked by Saban Brands in 2011 during the run of Power Rangers Samurai. Due to the audition calls for Power Rangers (not outrightly named Megaforce) involving a black ranger, there were speculations that it may be Power Rangers' reinterpretation of Tensou Sentai Goseiger. However, new casting sides released in April 2012 match with the blue and silver rangers of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. On 11th June 2012, it was revealed that the season will be based on Tensou Sentai Goseiger.

Thoughts? The last I saw was Jungle Fury, and that was awesome.

These are the costumes:

Surprised they went with Goseiger, since adapting Gokaiger would make more sense for the 20th anniversary season, being the 35th anniversary of Super Sentai. Also the theme for Goseiger was angels which I don't think would go over well in the west. Although I suppose the theme isn't overly present in the fight scenes and mech battles so they could come up with any plot they wanted.

Seems that they are trying to re-create Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The press release mentions the Gosei, a supernatural guardian, who protected the Earth for centuries along with his robotic aide, Tensou. During the invasion of evil aliens, Gosei calls upon five teenagers with attitude. Gosei will probably be Master Header and Tensou might be based on Datas. I like how the characters names references the title of the sentai.

One thing that's a bit disappointing is that instead of adapting one sentai into a 40ish episode season each year, they are dividing this up over two years of 20 episodes like Samurai and Super Samurai. I believe the second season is to be called Ultra Mega Force. That sounds like the name of parody if you ask me.

Here is a poster with logo if anyone is interested. The logo looks really simple in my opinion.

Megaforce?

You couldn't make this shit up if you tried.

No, seriously though. Power Rangers are still going? Huh. I remember desperately wanting a power rangers costume when I was a kid. I never did get one. ;_;
Next year will be the 20th anniversairy ^___^

You'll be surprised, some of the shows have been good.

Also..

Now, I don't like to discriminate against people's taste in TV, but I'm slightly confused about how anyone over the age of 7 could possibly be excited about Power Rangers. Pleaasssee pleaasee please tell me you don't actually like it.

-_-

Really? That is what they are going with?

How can those costumes look cheaper and dumber than the first series made 2 decades ago? Why the white pants? Why do the weapons look even more plastic than normal? When you know your series is finally going to be nostalgic to adults, why are you not taking advantage of that money giving market?

Knowing what RPM was like (i.e. awesome) under Disney, then what Samurai and Super Samurai were like (i.e. complete crap) under Saban's direction when they took Power Rangers back, I'm hoping that Saban don't stuff this one up. But, given the crappy name of that season... I don't think I'll be surprised if they do stuff it up after all.

Yeah, I think they'll screw it up.

I used to watch it. I still watch old episodes every now and then. Maybe, this next one will be good.

And hey, if grown men watch My Little Pony, don't see what's wrong with Power Rangers.

Given that RPM was Disney's last season with the show, they let the directors go ape with it, and seeing as the directors THOUGHT it would be the last season of Power Rangers, they did go absolutely ape with it. Let's not forget what Disney did to the show shall we? (Suffocating the Forever Red crossover for one T_T COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH MORE AWESOME!)

Speaking as someone who isn't a Power Rangers fan, there are way worse things out there that people get excited about, which i dare not name in the presence of these innocent, frail Escapians.

You are aware that Saban don't get much of a choice when it comes to the look of the costumes. They use the footage from the Japanese Super Sentai series. And Power Rangers is one of those shows were a significant portion of the sales comes from the toy sales. Unfortunately for Saban, adult Power Ranger fans with money would rather get the much higher quality toys/models from the Japanese versions.

The suits don't look cheap to me, I quite like the design. And I see nothing wrong with having all white pants, it looks good and is something different. I find your comment on the plastic weapons quite amusing, since in Mighty Morphin, whenever they had to film there own stuff, the weapons and props were all the toys from the Super Sentai.

Why is Power Rangers so awesome?

Martial arts, unnecessarily large amounts of pyrotechnics, and robot battles.

Any age can enjoy these things to be honest.

Also something about wearing a snazzy power ranger suit is just....hilariously awesome. I love the fact that the usage of hand gestures increases 10 fold when they wear them too.

I dunno, its just childlike wonder and fun in purest form.

Whoa. I didn't know Power Rangers was still going on. That started when I was a kid. Geez. What is it, like 20 years old?

Hmmmm, it looks very promising.

I didnt watch Samurai, because it just looked dumb even though Saban got back the license
