Remember that old tactical space RTS "Nexus - The Jupiter Incident"? Fans have been waiting for years on end to finally get a sequel and even produced some fantastic mods along the way (such as for Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, Freespace, etc.).

Once there even was a sequel in the works, but apparantly they didn't get the necessary funding. There exists an impressive "tech demo" of what they had planned for it... remember, this is from 2005 and looks actually very good considering its age:

Now the developers try again to get it funded, this time on Kickstarter. If you want to prove to publishers, that space strategy games aren't dead and are still popular among players, please consider supporting this project:

If you're curious about the original game, then that one is available both on Steam and Gog.com for a few bucks only. It still runs great on today's PCs and there are a whole bunch of mods available to try out:

(just don't get it for multiplayer, as the online servers were taken down years ago... it still works through Hamachi, Tunngle and the likes but it's hard to find other random players nowadays)

Hell yes. Hell yes. Hell yes.

I loved Nexus, and when I saw this thread title I was praying that this is what it was referring to, and not some other random game named Nexus.
If I had money, I would fund. Hopefully I get money soon. That game was amazing, and I'm looking forward to this, if it gets made.

Kinda funny how they put most of the features as graphical ones in the trailer, and the way they show combat isn't entirely how it is in game, but W/E. Do want.

Well, it was a tech demo shown to publishers I believe. Naturally they're gonna highlight some of the spectacular new graphics features they were developing at the time. That was 7 years ago, even before the release of current-gen consoles... and it still looks pretty good, I think. :)

According to their Kickstarter page, they'll be switching to Unreal Engine and will also release proper mod tools, so you can basically mod the hell out of it and change everything. That's a nice gesture seeing as not many titles ship with mods in mind nowadays.

Never played the original, but from what I have seen of it, it looks like something I would enjoy. Hope this gets funding. Even though I have no interest in the game myself, it is nice to see fans of something getting a sequel that they have been wanting for for years. :)

while i am interested i am not giving money, nexus was not that great since some of the small things ruined the game for me (balance and control issues and those damn boring stealth missions)

This would be awesome. Please can people tweet and share this around? Even send it to Totalbiscuit, he likes space sims, and has influence to actually shove people the right way!
