Souls-likes like Dark Souls can be intimidating, but Mortal Shell from Cold Symmetry was accessible enough to ignite a love of the genre.

I liked Mortal Shell a lot. Sufficiently distinct in combat and atmosphere, and feels quite different to the Souls games to play, even though the influence is obvious.

Its too short & the central hub area is too dull & monotonous, but given its the studio's debut this stuff can be forgiven. Its not as if it was 50 quid.

I really liked Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3, haven't really played the other From Software souls type games. Other than those, the only souls like that really apes the style that I really like was Darksiders 3.
