Hello all. :)

So I recently pre-ordered the Nintendo 3DS. I bought the original DS on its release and since then have acquired a few games - literally a few, probably five at the most. I haven't played on it in years but lately it's been on my person from morning til night!

Obviously I don't want to get bored of it again with an upgrade on the way. I think the problem is that I just don't have any interesting games so far. The extent is Pokemon and Sonic games. I don't even have Mario (I know, shock!).

Can anyone recommend me? I normally wouldn't ask but since I haven't been interested in the DS for so long, I've really lost touch with some of the good games that have been released, particularly in the last year.

I enjoy playing a wide range of games, no matter how obscure, so feel free to go nuts. If you've played it and enjoy it, recommend!

There have been a few gems pop up recently. Golden Sun, Dragon Quest, Professor Layton, course Mario Kart is still my favorite.

The only game I loved for the DS was Advance Wars: Dual Strike. It's a turn based strategy war-game. I believe I'd spent about 110-120 hours on it.

The Mario title was pretty good too, but I didn't spend anywhere near as long playing it.

I'm going to throw out some obscure ones that deserve exposure.
Henry Hatsworth and the Puzzling Adventure.
Infinite Space.
Lunar Knights.
Ghost Trick: Phantom detective.

You can't go wrong with Pokemon (Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heart Gold, Soul Silver, Black or, White I mean: not Ranger or the Mystery Dungeons)

I would also cast a vote in favor of the Castlevania games, namely Dawn of Sorrow.

Even better than dual strike.

Advance wars Days of ruin (or Advance wars Dark conflict in the EU).

The best game on the DS by far, in my opinion.

Someone already mentioned Ghost Trick, it's a bit short but great fun and an interesting story.
The Layton and Pheonix Wright games are epic if you want puzzles too
I'm currently playing though Dragon Quest IX, a turn based RPG, I can't give a verdict yet cos I only just started really :p

Ones people haven't pointed out yet are
Picross DS, a Picross puzzle game
Kingdom Hearts, still the best game series ever >.>
Alice in Wonderland is actually a pretty good game too, esspecially considering it's a movie based game!
Disgaea DS is a great remake of the PS2 game
Elite Beat Agents is a somewhat difficult rhythm game
Kirby Squeak Squad is short lived but great if you liked the old Kirby games
Ninjatown is a bit of a "different" tower defence game
Super Scribblenauts is probably the best sandbox for the DS

I've only posted what I consider the creme of the crop but ofc peoples styles vary :p Always remember to give a game a good googling and check some gameplay videos and demos if possible.

Got to chirp in in favour of the Castlevania and Phoenix Wright/Ace Attorney series, all fantastic games, I think that gives you 7 or 8 right there. Oh, Wario Ware Touched, that's mighty fun, Zelda Phantom Hourglass is rather schweet, Resident Evil: Deadly Silence is mint if you enjoyed the original/Director's Cut of Res.

If you like your long RPG epics, I'd heartily recommend Dragon Quest IX and FFIII.

If you like the Classic Point 'n' Click 'em Ups? then Broken Sword Shadow of the Templars the Director's Cut is a must buy.

Pheonix Wright/Apollo Justice/Edgeworth series,
Prof Layton series
999
Radiant Historia,
Pokemon Black/White
Spirit Tracks,
Dragon Quest IV, V, VI, IX
FFIV
Chrono Trigger
Warior Ware,
Mario + Luigi Partners + Bowser's inside story,
Advance Wars,
Golden Sun,
Fire Emblem,
Suikoden Tierkries,
Ghost Trick,
Trauma Center,
Ninja Town,
Disgaea,
Okamiden

are pretty much MUST HAVES no matter what. (unless you hate RPGs then you can take away half of these.) Phoenix Wright and Okamiden you pretty much are required to play if you like games at all.
