i don't think that gaming companies should keep making games based on world war 2, To me it doesn't make much sense. I'm not saying that they should focus on more futuristic games and stuff like that. But just think about it if we keep on moving back we'll never move forward.

I suppose WW2 has been overdone, but it was one of the most important events (or collection of events) to occur in modern history, thus most people who aren't savvy on history still have a connection to WW2, whereas less well known conflicts might not appeal to people so much.

Also, WW2 has a massive amount of varied sources that can be used by developers (Eastern Front, D-Day, North Africa and the Pacific to name just a few)

yes i agree they already have made enough of them. we need to make future wars or the companees need to hope that a WWIII will happen so they can overdo that

We need Vietnam games, i think Vietnam would be a great setting... but probably very offensive, as you would be 100% certain to play as an American, and a) it would be difficult to avoid such events as 'search and destroy' missions, and b) America generally got 'pwned' (braces for flaming).

but still, I'd rather have more WW2 games than 'futuristic' games, but then again, why not more completely original games that do not stick to one particular event in history?

Fine, we'll tell all the major companies to start making First Person Shooters involving World of Warcraft. Jesus, if you don't like the game don't fuckin play it? People, like myself, enjoy World War II games because I love the history of the war, so I love fighting in it as well.

I agree that that if they do too many more WWII games they may start making stuff up although I doubt it. I have actually seen three games based in Vietnam Batttlefield: Vietnam (ok, not great.) and the two Shellshock games (haven't played although doesn't look too good.) More WWII games wouldn't be bad as long as they all didn't use the same parts of the war like oh I don't know D-Day? Maybe they could try it more from the Russian or British view which ,I think, up to this point games have done it poorly.

How are WW2 games "Moving back"? It's just a single genre that games can be made about, it has nothing to do with the video game industry moving forward or backward. Game technology can still advance, developers can still make new ideas, and everything can get better. WW2 games aren't "backwards", they aren't better or worse than any other kind of game.

If you don't want to play WW2 games anymore then don't play them but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be made for everyone else.
