No sound in headphones.

I'm having a problem. Within the last half hour my speakers have suddenly decided that they will be the only device playing sound, even when my headphones are plugged in and set to default.

My volume control which was only a single slider earlier, now shows two separate sliders, one for my headphones and one for my speakers. I tested the headphone slider and my headphones aren't broken, but they are not being used when plugged in. Only the speakers are running.

Make sure your headphones aren't muted below the slider, I've missed that a few times myself. If you've got some kind of output manager (realtek, VIA, etc) installed as part of the drivers you might want to play around in that too.

Are your headphones USB, or standard 3.5mm headphone jack? This would be important information since USB headphones are mostly their own sound controller and would in fact be separate from your speakers.
