My stock CPU fan is very noisy, its like it wants to take off. This mostly happens in games and when using visual studio 2010, in games its not really a big deal if I put a headset on but when doing things like programming it can become annoying.

So anyway would get a better a better CPU fan/cooler help or should I do something else before spending my money.

I have a AMD Phenom II X6 Black Edition 1090T 3.2GHz Socket AM3 and a Gigabyte GA-M720-US3 AMD Nvidia 720D Socket AM2+ mobo, inside a Casecom LG-5570 Black/Silver Mid Tower Case.

Appreciate any help anyone can give.

Has it always been this noisy?

If not, then your computer probably needs a dust clean-out. Most fan-noise problems are dust-related.

If so, then replacing it might be the better bet.

Its always been noisy, especially during games.
Do you have any recommendations for a replacement?

No, not really. The things are designed to be quiet, so just go to a computer parts store and ask for a decent quiet one. What you are experiencing is not normal.

My old PC did that too. It broke a month ago.

Try to keep it clean from dust.
You can also try keeping the PC off for few days. Helps the CPU to cool down.

Stock HSFs are generally crap.

Try swapping it out with a Hyper 212+ or SCMG 2100/Scythe Mugen.

Are you sure its not the graphic card fan that is noisy?

Stock HS's are bad m'kay. >.>
More so when you actually push the computer, and they need to work harder.

There is only one fix, a new (better) HS. Luckily, they are a rather cheap component.
I agree with Tubez too, Noctua are excellent, I use one myself. Damn thing is silent, keeps my i7 sub-30 Celsius too.
