Post below the ending that left you the most disapointed. And by that i doont mean stupid endings that make no sense or overdramatic ones, i mean endings that were so dull and/or short that left you like this :|
For me Number one is the last Alone in the Dark game because both endings were lasted literaly 15 seconds and didnt have a climax, and second place is Deus Ex Human revolution because...you know i cant really explain it. As i am writing this i cant really find a way to describe how and why an ending felt like nothing happened. In human revolution i felt like nothing happened at the end, THATS ALL. Hopefully those of you who felt the same way is some cases will understand what i i am trying to get across.
Human Revolution's ending was very badly designed. There'd been very little indication of your actions having world-changing implications before then. I mean, there had been choice based on your personal philosophy surrounding augmentation, but it was a very 'insular' sort of choice that didn't really have any consequences beyond the immediate matter at hand, and then suddenly right at the end you get 'Choose Which Future-Defining (except not really because this is a prequel) Button You Want To Press', and then it just pretty much ends.
That said, I wouldn't call it a 'Nothing Ending', because the game at least does a very good job of presenting all the philosophies that drive the people in this world in a very balanced fashion. As Adam, I felt genuinely conflicted. Not confused, because I understood everything perfectly well, but conflicted, about the pros and cons of augmentations. So, when it came down to the final choice, I understood what each-choice would entail, for better and for worse, and which one I chose held real weight for me. So it did do some things right.
To be honest, I was more confused by what was going on during the final boss fight. What on Earth was the 'Hydron Project' in the bowels of Panchea supposed to be? Why were there people hooked up to a super-computer? What was the purpose of this machine? Why was it at Panchea, a station designed to counter the effects of global warming in the Arctic? What was Zhao trying to achieve by interfacing with it? Is this all just supposed to be symbolic of something? In short, I had like, no fucking idea what was going on during that whole sequence.
My 'Nothing Ending' would be Assassin's Creed: Revelations. I'd liked the endings to all the other AC games, cunting cliff-hangers though they might have been, but this one just took the piss. It was all going so well. Saying goodbye to both Ezio and Altair was executed perfectly, and I really felt for Ezio in particular. However, then I got treated to "Oh hai! I'm going to spew some more cryptic bullshit at you now, half of which 'alludes' to things you already figured out at the end of the second one, and the other half just raising further questions. K thnks bye!"
For God's sake, your game is called 'Revelations'. Have some fucking revelations in it! 'The World Is In Danger' doesn't count when that was pretty clearly established back at the end of AC2.
Oh, and then Desmond wakes up and for some reason says "I know what I need to do...". Um, well, that's swell that you do Desmond, because I fucking don't!
