So...the switch is basically an Nvidia shield console which originally sold for ?150 with a controller. It's less powerful than that as its downclocked.

So we are paying an extra ?130 for consoles for a crappy 720p screen! My 3 year old Galaxy note 4 is 1440p

Do Nintendo realise that by the time this is released there will be smartphones MORE powerful than its hardware. Let that sink in for a bit....Smartphones will be more powerful than a brand new console by a country mile. The Samsung S.8 will kill it in terms of power.

Seriously why Nintendo why?

I would be surprised if those smart phones could play PSP games with out any hiccups. Its a completely different architecture when you talk about hardware used for phones and hardware used for gaming

It could've been 1080p, but that would've jacked up the cost. In reality, the common user won't see a huge difference between 720p and 1080p on a 6.2 inch device. The people who do are more than likely really looking out for details like that, or are in media/tech and actively search for this sort of thing. Once the games get in motion I don't think your average user is going to really notice the difference. Doesn't make it being 720p any better though, I'm not gonna pretend that's good.

As for the gaming hardware thing... This is a custom chip Nintendo fine tuned for the system, it's not just your average smartphone processor/GPU that can go into ANY phone. Its architecture and hardware is going to be a fair bit different. I'd love to see someone show me a video of a smartphone running Skyrim or Doom 2016 on a smartphone. Not streaming it, but running it. THEN I might concede to the power idea

As I've said before, the average consumer doesn't care about specs, many probably don't even know what "specs" are. They just see that the console will have Nintendo games, so they buy it.

This eternal worship of GRAFAX is seriously unhealthy for gaming. Its a GAME, and you are supposed to WIN. That's it. The fact that Nintendo is going for 60 FPS on all first party titles is awesome, because FPS is always more important than GRAFAX.

Is there actually confirmation that Nintendo's first part titles are going to be running at 60fps? When I watched nintendo's presentation and they were showing off Breath of the Wild it definitely did not look like it was running at 60, but I can't be sure whether that's the game, or the video, or the stream.

The average consumer is stupid. People should care about graphics and performance, it's important, whether it's about the technical side or the art side. I also don't see how it's bad for gaming, games that aren't know for their graphics still get praised all the time and thanks to people caring about graphics, developers push themselves alot more these days.

That's just my opinion anyway.

Graphics and performance are very different, as we know. Luckily, Nintendo has a very good track record when it comes to performance. Graphics, not so much. But Nintendo has the in house knowledge to make pretty games on lesser consoles, which is why third party titles always suck on Nintendo consoles, the developers just don't have the know how.

Totalbiscuit mentions it in this video.

Now obviously, the trailers shown up till now have been in 30 FPS. However, it has been made clear that the trailers shown were running using the Wii U, not the Switch.

Yeah, watching the totalbiscuit video he mentions that people who got to play the Breath of the Wild demo, on a docked Switch are saying that it didn't hit anywhere near 60 fps, and that it was closer to 30 and jittery and unstable.

I'd rather play Zelda Breath of the Wild than games like Pokemon Go and Angry Birds on a phone...

When a console being released in 2017 can't even run a game that looks like a late ps2 game at a stable frame rate we have issues here.

I guess you could enjoy the mobile version of Zelda BOTW on your $150 shield and because it's mobile it should be no more than $5. What are Nintendo thinking not making a tablet without controlers that simply works with touch. Zelda: Touch of the Wild coming to an Apple device for $5 with micro-transactions.

You do realize how much fps is in exclusive Sony SP games like the Order and Bloodborne... it isn't 60fps thats for sure and they were no where near stable at launch.

They might not care about specs, but they'll care if the switch is incapable if running any game from this era and is therefore not going to have any multi platform games. You know, like the wii U.

You should go play a late PS2 era game, the nostalgia goggles are pretty thick.

Like, I play a lot of retro games, and anything purporting to be "realistic" generally makes my eyes bleed these days. My memory of them is distinctly better.

All multi platform games sold like crap on the Wii U. Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Batman, Black Ops, they all sold terribly. People buy Nintendo Consoles for the Nintendo games. If all a consumer cares about is third party games, the Xbox One is right there for them.

One a side note, I'll start caring about third party titles when they stop universally sucking.

I'm sorry but what exactly makes Nintendo games so great? i have owned GC/SNES/WII/U Nintendo's exclusives are just ok they are not some kind of magical amazing experience, I just dont get it. Tell me what makes their games so great? and if they dicth the third parties like you say which is fine, why do they never come up with any original games and just recycle the same shit year after year after year?

Lol really? your comparing a crappy looking game like zelda that could run on a PS3 without breaking a sweat to bloodbourne?? Methinks there is a slight graphics advantage in favour of the ps4 there my friend!

So did every Wii-U exclussive that wasn't first-party. Both The Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2 sold like garbage.

That worked out well for them with the Wii-U, didn't it? Let's see how the Switch is going to fare. That strict Nintendo bubble is going to suffocate them one day, unless they break out of it. The Switch was their chance to do so, but unfortunately it seems we've got atleast another 5 more years of Wii-U ahead.

The WiiU was actually a good system and that failed, this system is much much worse, it will fail quicker than the WiiU.

How the mighty have fallen, I remember how amazing the N64 was it had such awesome looking games and now Nintendo are reduced to making this garbage. I think the video for 1 2 switch pretty much sums up Nintendo now and forever.

Calling it now...this will fail as quickly as the virtual boy!
