A friend and have been on obscure animated film hunt. We have worked are way through most of Ralph Bakshi work and are running out of ideas so I thought I would ask the escapist community. Does anyone no any good obscure animation?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...
Felidae comes to mind.

I'm not sure if Kieth's "The Maxx" animated series fall into that category...
NOPENOPENOPE! After the Seymour episode of Futurama, any cartoon with dogs that even has a hint at sadness I avoid like the fucking plague!
OT:I feel bad, cos I really don't have any that actually would seem obscure. So, lets hope this thread shows me something awesome. That isn't Anime, don't know why but I've never wanted to watch Anime.
I don't understand what in mParadox's post warranted a suspension. Anyone want to clue me in as to what forum rule was broken?
Animated series:
- The Maxx
- Aeon Flux
- The Head
- The Oblongs
- Captain Starr
- Duckman
Seen a lot more obscure animated SHORTS than production films. Most are now seeing much more light thanks to youtube and internet TV, where previously they got featured infrequently in TV spots and VHS / DVD compilations.
...it SHOULD pass as personal opinion rather than trolling.
For example : after paying my taxes for the first time i find every "horror" movie rather boring experience.

if that's the case then think of this film as a graphic doggie holocaust (seriously this is some of the most disturbing shit I have ever seen, I don't recomend watching the Video)
Technically not that obscure since it won a prize at Cannes, but since that was back in 73 I'm guessing that most ppl on the Escapist probably don't know about it.
I also recommend Cat Soup if you feel like another really weird trip. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat_soup
The only reason I know this movie exists is because our classed watched almost all of it in elementary school. I'm 21 now, and I still remember this movie, even though we didn't finish it! My entire life, this movie has lingered at the back of my mind, for no other reason than having never seen the end to the movie.
All I know for sure about it is that it has James Earl Jones voicing the main bad guy.
I personally recommend Cats Don't Dance. (Danny Der Kater in German, in case you wish to hunt down the rare widescreen version which was only published in Germany for some reason. This one still has the original English dialogue and optional subtitles in several languages, so you really should give it a shot! I was able to purchase my copy from the German eBay site by typing all my inquiries in English into an online English-German translator, then copypasting the result into the "Ask Seller" - feature.)
The plot: Danny the cat goes to Hollywood literally believing he'll make the bigtime within a week, but runs afoul of corrupt child star Darla Dimple. In spite of every setback, Danny is intent on inspiring the rest of Hollywood's rejected animal talents to take just one more shot at the stars...
Oh, and this movie was one of the first things Lauren Faust ever worked on! She was part of the team that animated female lead Sawyer.
