It seems irrational, even to you, but you do it anyway. like you can't control the urge.

My Examples:
In final fantasy games, I cant stop collecting powerful healing items, like X-potions. I would spend hours collecting them, and I would never, EVER use them. I would have collected 99 and I wouldn't use a single one, even if I knew I would die if I didn't, not even during end bosses, I would rather die than use my precious healing items! (stupid)

Also, in Assassins Creed 2 I cant help but pick up the dead body of a random innocent I accidentally(or purposely) killed, carry them to the nearest body of water, stand in silence for about a minute and then drop them in. Then I stand in silence for 2 more minutes while I feel bad, then I leave to go back to my normal routine of killing guards mercilessly and harassing the general pubic.

Attaining money... I have 30K bottlecaps in Fallout 3, and I'm sure I have plenty of other examples but nothing really comes to mind other than Disgaea, where it's quite easy to come upon cash. So far, in Disgaea 2 I've got just under 100 Trillion HL... I don't even use any of it.

In FPS games I hoarde all ammo I come across, but I always end up using my pistol most times, saving my precious powerfull ammo for "when I really need it".

And I'm a pack rat. What can be collected and stored, will be collected and stored.

I also have well over 30k bottlecaps in Fallout 3.
Plenty ammo for all weapons (never sell ammo, even if I don't use the weapon), far too many healing items, fully upgraded house in Megaton.

There's just not enough too use the bottlecaps on.

Oh, and I always loot everything, for maximum profit.

I always need to have my Health and Mana/SP/AP topped off even if I only have one point off max health and the only healing item available is a Restore 30 health per second, 30 second duration potion.

And in non scaled games I'll grind for hours and hours so I can get my stats so high I can end a boss fight in less then a minute instead of spending 10 minutes on the fight before the grind

When playing Bioshock, I compulsively search every single available thing. Then, if I can;t pick it up, I waste stuff so I can pick it up. Leave no stone unturned.

When I was playing Bioshock 2 - I was a total pack rat. I had to grab anything I saw and have it on the side ready to go if needed. I guess this habit came from playing Resident Evil. ^^
