Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask... Which was superior?

An age-old question, perhaps; but it's always good to hear the thought provoking input of those who don't immediately slam the tonal change in MM and write it off as a lesser game. OoT was brilliant, and it's fair to like it better, but it doesn't make MM a bad game by any stretch.
So, which did you like better and why?

The crazy-long paragraph below is just my personal opinion, you are not required to read it. I just thought it would be prudent to give some justification to my choice since I'm demanding it from others.

Personally, I preferred MM. Why? Because no game has ever elicited so many raw emotions from me. There were points in the game where I was so taken in by all of the game's intricacies that I forgot I was playing a game. I found myself becoming attached to even minor characters because they were flawed in such a realistic way, and their interactions with one another weren't as cartoonish or contrived as most video game characters. Everyone, even the villains, had an emotional complexity that I had never seen in a video game before. I was nothing short of awestruck by the conclusion of the Kafei and Anju sub-story; it was the saddest and most beautiful thing I've ever seen in a game. There were concepts present that were far darker, more intriguing, and more mature than most M-rated games on the market and to be able to weave them subtly into an E-rated is a sign of Nintendo's (and Eiji Aonuma's) genius, as far as I'm concerned. It was a mix of dark, sad, tragic stories and I was compelled, almost obsessively, to see every single one of them through to their conclusions. No other game has done that to me. I can say without shame that I fucking ADORE MM, if it's not already obvious.
MM sits at position numero uno of "My Favorite Games of all Time"

[sub]Grr, vs thread[/sub]

OT: I couldn't honestly say which one I preferred. Ocarina of Time was a lot of fun, but then, so was Majora's Mask, which had the added challenge of the three day limit, which made it frustrating, but as worthwhile to finish as its prequel.

Both are amazing games in my opinion - certainly not my favourite games of all time, but still very, very good games to play.

I believe the 2 form a perfect unity. Whatever one lacks the other provides. OoT provides a dual world system taking place in the future and the past. It makes the game alot larger since each place is done twice. However, Majora's Mask concentrates more on the extra characters, running through their routines every day. A slight tweak on your part can make a lot of difference, and you've got the 'reset the universe' button.
I always count them as 1 game, since they use the same console, same controls, same character and exactly the same graphics style. They are 2 sides of the same coin. Each unique, but belong together.

I prefer OoT and think it was the better game but i can definitely understand people preferring MM.
MM was good fun and an interesting concept.
OoT was IMHO the best game ever made.

Mods frown on vs threads, so tread carefully with how the direction of this thread goes.

Personally, i liked Majoras Mask better. I dunno why, i loved that story element that it had to it, where you had to keep on your toes. It was a unique way to play and gave an awesome atmosphere, like how as the days pass things change like people moving out of the city and events occurring in the main storyline at certain times regardless of what you do. It makes you feel that you have to save the world, but are not the only thing that drives the world. Something that games that aim to do that seem to be unable to do (fable 2 for example)

I don't mean for it to be a versus thread. I know that there are people with the tendency to look for reasons to become asses but, so far, things have been very level-headed and nothing inflammatory has been posted.
It's not like it's a hopping thread either.
Thanks for the advice, though, I'll keep it in mind.

definitely OoT. MM is a good game it's just not as good as OoT. of course there are some good things that MM has that OoT doesn't but as a game overall, OoT is the best.

Twilight Princess! Nah, just kidding:

Majoras Mask - Bigger bosses, more side quests. (Even though, the characters were allmost all copy pasted and the Water Temple was the worst in the series.)

I still think that Ocarina of Time is the most overrated game of all time.

Haven't played MM but Ocarina is generally regarded by gamers as one of the best, if not THE best game of all time.

Having played it for the first time this year I can say that while it has its flaws and frustratingly implememted bits, it is a hugely rewarding game that has more moments of inspired genius and beauty than most current gen titles.

Ocarina of Time. I hated the time limit in Majora's Mask. At least I could explore at my own pace in Ocarina of Time.

I thought that the three day limit in Major's Mask added a nice pacing element to the game. I have to say that I like them both equally. Ocarina of Time for the epic origins story of Link and Gannon, and Majora's Mask because it was so trippy.

While I prefer Majora's Mask because of its lack of Ganondorf I'd have to say Ocarina of Time is the more complete game.

Ocarina of Time. Majora's Mask felt too short, and rushed. Loved it to death though, since it had some of the best "side-quests", and the masks were awesome.

Actually, I might have to go play MM just to do the Swamp place. I loved that area.

Ocarina was a better game in my opinion, although it's probably one of the games that I completed a few times too many, although in the end, I could never find all the heart containers and the gold spiders.

Although Majoras mask was a pretty tight game, the fact that time was applied to everywhere in the game, not just the Hyrule Fields, was a pretty nifty feature. Different sort of challenge, although Ocarina will still be a bit better than it.

Majora's Mask. All the NPCs felt alive and had a purpose, the story was one of the most original and memorable in the entire Zelda series, and the soundtrack was amazing.

Ohhh no. You've got me going now. Zelda: OoT is still the greatest game Ive played to this very day, so that one obviously. But Majoras Mask comes no where near even thinking about being somewhat as good. I played through MM, and I hated probably 90% of it. I didnt enjoy that game. At all.
