Just another piece of police brutality on peacefull protesters fellow Escapists and in my opinion, one of the most disturbing. The title really speaks for itself here.

I thought the video of cops pepper-spraying those women were bad but this made me sick to my stomach. As bad as I feel for this man, his pain will only help to strengthen their cause.

Now to be fair, I'm sure he didn't MEAN to do it. However, his total lack of concern or willingness to even move the damn thing is just as bad. As far as I know, the victim is still in police custody, despite his injuries.

EDIT: Thanks to the one who provided this link. It gives much more detail on who this person was and what happened. This is the guys lawyer talking to Keith Olbermann about the incident in question

No. You should know there's a difference between the NYPD and government officials and corporations. And by a difference I mean they're almost completely unrelated aside from government funding (which, obviously, has nothing to do with what either does during protests).

Edited - happy now? I think the issue at hand was slighty more important than an error in writing

Well, theres another bloody lawsuit for the police to handle.

Why are people still shocked at police being heavy handed at protests or disturbances, it happens all the time. I'm not saying it should happen, but the news always plays it up like every incident is the very first incident.

Plus, what on earth is he doing on the floor anyway?

Don't you know? Pedestrians are extra points

...

Ok, that was bad. I'm going to go hang my head in shame and shamble off now. Bye!

OT: If the Daily Mail says it, it must be true.

Good. Maybe we can get these god damned people back to work where they should be. I'm sick of all the protestors, the riots, the EVERYTHING.

People. Please. For god's sake. Shut up and go back to your work. Your lives. Your families. Quit complaining and do your job.

Well lets be fair here...

When you see a moving lump of metal, do you :-

A) Stand in it's way, you are in a protest it's your right to halt the movement of a rapidly moving metal bike of death.

B) Lie on the floor right where the bike is going.

Thats not police brutality thats pedestrian stupidity.

If someone is mind numbingly thick enough to get in the way of a moving vehicle then they deserve it.

Also, check out the cameramen....

"Don't bother helping him lads, get a close up of that look of pain"

Yeah, that video doesnt help. the only thing I cnan tell from it is the guy deserved to get run over cause he was too close to the bike. The cop saw what happened, backed everyone up, and by the looks through the crowd looked like he was trying to help.

Crowd stupidity that led to an accident, though the media wont see it that way.

It's too bad that it's illegal to hire strikebreakers anymore. Maybe the people who want to work could, then.

Yeah, firstly, the protesters should not of gotten in the way of the motorbikes, and secondly the real kicker is the half dozen people, the "protesters" who are taking photos and not helping their so called "brother". At this point, I am actually on the laws side.

EDIT1: seriously! Look at the upper right hand corner! And the police officer is the villain in this piece?

Oww was my reaction to the video. But whatever there were wrongs done on both ends. The protester shouldn't of been sitting/laying in the street and the cop should of paid attention.

The british police were apparently heavy handed with the 300 protestors the wall street protesters inspired to march on the LSX.
Who are apparently all now called criminals, but thats apparently what happens if you complain about the gov in britain now...

The guys surrounded by photographers, there's another policeman next to him. From this I extrapolate this "accident" was planned. Let's look at this rationally, for a second, what's more likely:

A. The guy was just lying down in the middle of the road taking a break, when suddenly, a big bad cop pulls up on his bike and crushes the guys leg. A big ol' group of at least 7 (I count 6 behind him, and obviously the one who took this photo) just happen to be standing around, presumably documenting this guys outstanding napping power and manage to catch this atrocity on film.

B. The guys sitting on the road was actively attempting to prevent the police from carrying out their work, as a sort of new "Tank Man" (somehow a police motorbike isn't as good for this sort of thing as a platoon of knock-off T-55 MBTs, but you've got to work with what you're given!). Despite being warned by the nearby policeman that cyclists won't be able to see him behind his photographers, he does bugger-all and gets run over like a complete idiot.

Something tells me it might be option B...

It's a shame. Some places had peaceful protests and occupation of public space, which is legal.
Heard a few say that he purposely faked the injury, but I don't know who to believe.
