Something pretty cool for those wealthier and more passionate than oneself, still really want, though a bear can dream... *wistful sigh*

A remote-controlled flying-toys company has come up with possibly the best toy idea ever ? drone toys of famous Star Wars ships such as Han Solo's Millennium Falcon and the rebels' X-Wing Starfighter.

Propel, which already sells a wide range of model helicopters as well as consumer unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), showcased its new Stars Wars Battling Quad drones at the Star Wars Celebrations convention in London, which took place over the weekend (15-17 July 2016) at London's ExCeL Centre.

The drones are made from polycarbonate plastic and feature rechargeable lithium-ion battery backs. They also feature a patent-pending reverse propulsion system with invisible blades, and they are able to go from zero to 35 mph in less than three seconds.

In addition to flying like a regular small UAV, the drones will also be fitted with lasers that actually fire, and users will be able to perform aerial stunts such as 360-degree turns. There are three settings to suit everyone, from beginners to advanced pilots.

Star Wars fans will be able to use the drones to play an airborne laser-battle game, whereby each controller paired to the relevant UAV vibrates when hit in mid-battle. After three successful hits, the drone will refuse to respond to user commands, and instead will land on the ground to signify that it has been shot down.
So cute!

Tiny people Speeder-bikes too!

So thoughts? Concerns? Sudden platonic friendships with curious bears to allow their grubby fur enveloped paws a fumbling go on your fragile expensive toys?

Ah, that's freaking cool! I've never piloted a drone and I don't see myself using these either because as expensive as drones are in general, these are absolutely going to be significantly more expensive. I'd like to see a pic of that Falcon though...and I wonder if there will be more designs in the future.

I scanned both those articles, and I'm wondering where you got the "public domain" part. Disney making Star Wars drones is one thing (though I'm disappointed in the lack of a Probe Droid model), but them putting anything they own in the public domain is... mind-boggling.

Ask and ye shall receive, succulent humancubs;

I meant they will be available to purchase for ordinary humans around Christmas time, after a month of availability to those who buy beforehand. may have used an incorrect term there perhaps, but that is what I originally meant to convey. :)

"Publicly available" is what you wanted. Public domain refers to a specific concept [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_domain] in copyright law. Disney definitely isn't putting anything Star Wars-related in the public domain.

It depends hugely on the Drones in question. Things like this will probably be in the 50 dollar price range. I've seen drone toys in the store about the size of these for around 20 bucks.

Okay, good; that makes a LOT more sense. "Public Domain" is a legal, intellectual property thing, and Disney is about a litigation-happy as a company can get regarding its IP. You made me worry I'd somehow wandered into another dimension.

What you get for going to the Drone department instead of the Droid department. Also a flying R2D2 drone would be a tragedy, because you know kids would fly them top first into each other, like they were huge bullets, which would get them pulled from the market fast after a series of injuries.

Just admit to me that you think owning one of these [http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/5/5c/Imperial_probe_droid.png] would be cool. You know it is.

I was never really enamored with the Imperial Probe Droid, being that I was exposed to Star Wars so young and was typically on the side of the Rebels... The R2 series has always been my favorite for that reason.

Ah, well...I'm evil, so I guess I can't really complain in regards to that.
