Now, I realize most people here probably don't give a flying crap about Phantasy Star Online.

But I love it. I freaking LOVE it. And I feel the need, nay, I feel the OBLIGATION to share this new PSO2 trailer.

Now if you'll excuse, I need to mail my soul and wallet to SEGA.

PSO was one of my favorite games ever. I hope this comes out for consoles and has split-screen, it was the best part of PSO on the GC.

It looks good except for those over-sized swords. I know big swords are a very anime thing and that's clearly what they're going for, but there IS such a thing as too much of a good thing. I know it's just a minor gripe, but it actually annoys me enough to not want to try it. And I try almost every MMO, not even exaggerating.
I know it is just a minor gripe and it really doesn't affect the gameplay at all, but man, I've never seen such an annoying weapon in my entire life.
As a final note, I'm not saying the game is bad at all, I just won't have time for it after GW2 and Firefall are out.

Those are about on par with the sword size from PSU/PSP/PSP2.

Never played Online, so can't comment there.

PSO had just as big swords. My favorite sword: The Flowen Sword (which is in PSP2 :D) was just as big as those in the trailer.

Is it just me, or dose the cell-shading look really washed-out?

Y'know, it looks way better than most online RPG's out there, but I'm not gonna get into another one of these 'till Guild Wars 2.

GOD DAMN IT SEGA!

Why aren't you happy with all my money!?!

Why must you keep releasing trailers and making games that seem great, but are actually terrible.

I hate you!

But I'm still gonna buy this...

I take it you don't play Siegfried much in Soul Calibur :p

Are you referring to the trailer or the games I listed? I don't intend to get defensive or anything, I just can't agree that (or at least hope) that GW2 and Firefall have blades with double the mass of the wielder. Also note, this is coming from a guy who wears a shirt with "Real men use swords as big they are" on it. I'll use Devil May Cry as an example, most of the characters have very large swords, but they don't completely overshadow and draw attention away from the wielder.
Anyways, I'm not bogged down by it completely, I'd still try the game if it was recommended to me enough or if I saw a really standout trailer.

Actually, I played Soul Caliber a few times on recommendation and traded it in after about two days. Didn't like the feel and aesthetic of it. I much prefer Tekken and BlazBlue over Soul Caliber, think of that what you may. I find the controls are much smoother on Tekken and I play a mean game as Lili and Alisa, and on BB I'm currently undefeated (by players) as Noel.

Looks pretty damn boring to me, just like the last one. I'll definitely pass on this one.

Kind of looks like a cross between Devil May Cry and Monster Hunter. Still, I've only ever played the old school RPGs of the series...

Since I'm hoping many will fill me in and Wikipedia isn't very personal about it.
What in gods name is this game, and why is it so amazing?

Can't wait for this. The gameplay looks amped up which is good, because as much as I loved PSO and it's different approach to combat, it was still relatively boring outside of boss fights.

All of the Phantasy Star Online/Universe games focus is about weapons instead of character, which is why they come up with some crazy designs (Chainsawd for example). I'm not sure what they'll be pulling for PSO2, but I still expect the same, gotta get the next weapon deal. Sure in PSU/PSP/PSP2 you can customize your character a crap ton more than anything else, but Weapons over shadow everything else in my opinion.

Also, Jumping!

Truth ^

I want to see this game have split-screen, no subscription fees, and actually be worth my time (unlike PSU).

The first one was the first MMO on consoles(Dreamcast), and one of the very few online games on the Gamecube. Many people have great memories from the games. And the games were really, really, really, really fun to play with others.
