Hey escapist have been browsing around for a awhile yet only recently made an account, just how I roll. Anyway back to the thread topic.

I am currently wanting to do the classic work for a game company because I just use too much of my time playing them and only recently wondering about the process behind them. So I am now wondering what are the basic fields like? I got some vague idea of what programming is like and didn't hate it, I tried art and... my art is to be never looked at by man.

Just wondering if you guys could give me some examples of what the different fields are. Currently thinking about doing sound because have played in band for school before and am moderatly into music ( although I can never figure out anything about albums etc. )

Advice would be appreciated.

This would probably be better suited for either the Job Board or the Advice Forum.

As for the topic at hand, a good place to start is probably to watch the Extra Credits on becoming a game designer and all it takes to do so. Though really, there are lots of ways to get into the games industry doing any number of things. But it's also very competitive. One reason I have never thrown my hat into the ring myself is that I really don't think I would ever stand a chance. But it really depends first on what exactly you want to do for the game company. First choose what you want to do, then figure out how to go about doing it.
