With the massive rarity that is hot weather in the English summertime comes a recurring problem I have with all my PC's. The tiniest bit of fluff in the fan or heat sink, and my processor goes BLEARGHDEAD.

So I pull the side off, grab my air duster, blow it all clean and think "this would be so much easier if I pull the heat sink and fan off the processor!" I found a little clip...thing, pulled that, and...nothing. I can't get it off. Curse you whoever put my PC together! I can't take it apart because of you!

*offers computer free to a good home for being annoying*

And yes, I am bored.

My PC has been having annoying overheating problems too. I sent it to get fixed (it wasn't just a bit dusty there was some sort of hardware problem). I got it back and it still doesn't work. I just got off the phone with them to book a second repair.

I take the side off mine and give it a good hoover. You could try that? Just be careful of the RAM and all that jazz

I assume in this thread you are allowed to vent about things your computer does that annoys you?

If so, then I'd like to say that whenever I try to connect to a TF2 or a DoD:S server, the computer hangs for +ten minutes on the "Retrieving server info" part of connection before saying it cannot connect to the server.

I should probably get a RAM upgrade... but right now I'm not too fussed.

You can air dust your cpu's fan and heatsink without removing it but if you rather remove it then use a flat head screw driver, that clip thing probably has one side flat and one with a part standing out, insert the screw driver there, push down and then pushing down pull the clip out. Be careful for the screw driver not to slip and hit the motherboard and for the plastic thing on the cpu socket holding the clip not to break (don't force that plastic thing).

I was thinking of an older cpu model maybe yours is different, like a P4 type of fan. I also was thinking about removing the fan with all and the disipator

The clip has a hook on the top and bottom that go over the casing that the CPU is I think plugged into. It has an arm on it that you pull to release. It's an AMD Athlon X2 6000+ if that helps.

For anyone whose router resets randomly...mine was doing it a lot too. My ISP told me to hard reset it by pushing the little button on the back of it in and holding it till the power light went orange. It hasn't done it since.

My older laptop does this, but all year round. I keep it for my music and media etc. My current set up is having it half over the edge of my desk with a fan underneath blowing upward. Supprisingly it works quite well.
