Back in the late summer of 2008 i purchased Okami for the playstation2 and it was amazing. the aweinspiring art style of the graphics, the brilliant characters, the brilliant new take on the tried, tested, and frankly a little old zelda formula where spells are collected instead of weapons and the dungeons where very different. all this acredited an absolutely amazing experience which lasted me a good solid 2 weeks of gameplay and wonderment.

However, on the Wii the games greatness was dulled somewhat. the controls were far too loose, the graphics had lost their sheer wow factor, and the game which was meant to be so much better on a console which would normally be ideal for it was very much let down. if however, that was the first time you'd seen the game and the only version you'd played of the game then you would no doubt have had a great time with it. for me thought the real brilliance of it was that sombody had made thiis truly amazing matserpeice as a final send off for the late great console which was the playstation 2.

Now we come to the actual forum section of this thread. I've heard more than a whisper on the many game forums of the interwebs that a supposed sequel to this dity of a game is somewhere in devlopment. according to the web trawlings i've done, the game is meant to carry on from the end of the first one and folows Amaterasu's adventure in the land of the spirts mentioned toward the end of the game who crashed into the lake of the winter town with their massive ark. Now, i'm all for new takes on old ideas but much of the appeal of the first game was that it was exclusive to PS2 and stood out as a defiance against the looming giants of the future, also it was such an amazing story with such brilliant visuals and fabulous gameplay that i'm sure it can be topped. the ending of the first game was, in my opinion, left reasonably open for a story to continue. But, if the developers fall short of the mark set by the first game (which to be honest is quite a high mark to beat)then they can only stand to make a pure aboination which will lose all fans of the game's greatness wtiha nasty stain to try and forget.

SO...the question is this:

Should there be a New sequel to Okami? if yes or no then please say so in your post. thank you.

Also i should note that there is no specific link to the sites i found the rumors on as it took me the best part of a month worth of looking at my screen and searching through all the filth to find any discernable evidence at all. so no, i will not be posting up any links to pages as i can't be arsed to do so.

There shouldn't be a sequel. Why? Because fucking Shadow of Rome didn't get any, too, and I won't accept Okami getting one if fucking Shadow of Rome didn't get one. Especially since they're both Capcom games. And especially especially since Capcom was working on a fucking Shadow of Rome 2 and made it into the boring-ass Dead Rising. Pff.

Even though Okami was one of the best games evAr (and I don't understand why the Wii version is supposed to be so much worse, as you say - those points make no sense to me except the controls which I thought worked perfectly).

They're already making one, aren't they? Okamiden, for the DS.

It's not a rumour; it's been confirmed. And it shall be awesome.

They are making one.

Should they make one? Yes because they know people will spend money on it.

Will it be good? The chances get lower in every consecutive sequel. I hope for the best.

I click when there are no replies, and by the time I get over here, it's already been answered half a dozen times. Oh well.

I'm actually not looking forward to more Okami. I never finished the original game. I really, really liked it for the first section of the game, but then after what seemed like a somewhat short but good game, it goes and starts essentially another entire story on me, which I kept slogging through for a while, but it started feeling really slow to me, and I lost interest. It probably doesn't help that I have a tendency to compulsively do optional side quests (which did not help me enjoy Mass Effect, either), and that I'm getting too lazy to turn my poor Wii on when I have so many things sitting there to play on my PC. Maybe I'll go back and finish it at some point...

Why do I think of Ratchet & Clank when I see your avatar!?

OT: As said before, they are making a sequel. And I played both the Wii and PS2 version, I didn't think either was better or worse than the other...

Don't listen to the people who suddenly are into games because of the wolf on Okami, that game was great but a sequel would have to be really good to stand next to its father.
