I have some old Dreamcast games and was looking to sell them. I looked up how much they were going for on ebay and Amazon, and it blew my mind. I have a Sky's of Arcadia game that I barely even opened and the computer screen is telling me it's worth 150$? and their are some games worth even more then that. What?

Rival Schools 2 is going for like 100 pounds on eBay, it's insane. GameCube games are shooting up in price too.

Now's a good time to start buying PS2 and OG Xbox games, they're not quite at that point yet but it's only a matter of time. Just takes enough people who are nostalgic about that generation to start getting disposable income.

Neat. I don't really know if I want to sell mine though. Nintendo 64 stuff lurks throughout my bedroom along with Gamecube stuff too, I wonder...

Hi guys!

I just recently bought a dreamcast. It ain't cheap, especially having to order games from the UK (I live in Australia), but it is worth it. This is a piece of gaming history you don't want to miss.

I'm also thinking about grabbing a Model 1 Saturn.

Why is this considered insane, exactly? Many older games were quite good (I'm from the past, and we had gaming enthusiasts then, too); many of them have no availability on modern systems. Low supply and high demand tends to make for high prices.

Dreamcast games can be pricey or cheap. Skies of Arcadia just happens to be one of the pricey ones (because it's super amazing). But if it makes you feel better, there are thousands of crappy old sports games rotting on shelves in stores because nobody wants to buy them for a dollar.

huh... I wonder if now would be the time to sell my retro stuff or if I should wait longer for more profit.

personally, I don't see the appeal in retrogame collection. I'd rather just play the games, and you can do that these days with just a PC.

Well, the problem there is that quite often, you can't. If they don't get ported, they don't get ported, and emulation's still (by and large) illegal. Not everything is Sonic and Mario.

I wouldn't speculate too heavily into the PS2 (or the Xbox really). Its kind of like comics, the ones that have attained collector value were from a period where they were rare commodities. The PS2/Xbox era had the highest market saturation and was probably the turning point of gaming into mainstream appeal. There'll be oddball titles that had limited runs for whatever reason, but most of them have way too many copies to command much value. You can run into this even with the NES. Good luck selling that Mario/Duck Hunt that came with the system for more then 10 cents.

They're also really easy to create your own copy to play. Most people don't have cartridge creation facilities, or even the mini-CD for the Gamecube. DVD burners are standard issue nowadays. Collectors will be looking for sealed items and collectors editions, not opened games, so most copies available will be invalid to that market.

To the OP, also a good idea is to check for "Completed" listings on ebay, or the relevant feature wherever you're looking. Anyone can try and sell something for any price, but you want to know what they're actually selling for, not what some guy imagines he can get.

Yeah, Skies Of Arcadia is probably a bit of an exception, at least regarding price brackets, isn't it?

I'm terrible at selling old gen games, but I have a stack of DC games, so I suppose I may as well just clear space sometime. Never had SoA, though, which always pissed me off as it was by all accounts a bit of a classic...
