Have you have played the first two fallout games, you know the ones that are so old, that it's almost impossible to complete, because of the bugs alone.
And have you EVER pulled of an IRONMAN, were you have to complete the whole game, without saving even once.?

I couldn't make an ironman no matter how hard a tried, but i beat the first game on the hardest difficulity. (That's a little comforting) ;)

I tried to play fallout 2 a few weeks ago and I gave up after trying for about an hour. The gameplay was annoying, the bugs were awful and there was almost no clue on what you had to do. That game is almost unplayable.

I attempted to play them but couldn't work out how to get around the map on the first and second. I did alright on tactics thought but i'm not a massive fan of turn-based games.

I have Fallout 1 and 2 but I find I just can't get in to them. I feel lost when I play it, I tried using a guide, so I'll be happily strolling across the world map and BAM! a bunch of radscorpions and all I have his a weak pistol with barely any ammo and a...rusty pipe or something. And this is on the easiest difficulty, which is a shame because I really want to like them.

I've not only played them, but played them multiple times, most of the time on the hardest difficulty, reviewed them both and have read most of the Fallout Bibles. I love the first two Fallout games. They're a gold standard in the Western RPG genre.
A fellow old school RPG lover, and now the million dollar question have you ever done an ironman.
If so may i bow in the dust before you, because it's a task of extreme difficuity. o_O

The game kind of expects that you're running away from big fights until you get powered up enough. The nice thing, though, is that you can spend pretty much as little or as much as you want killing things. And there's a way for suave people to get things done without shooting anyone.

And no, I've never done an Ironman.

I did do a pacifist run of Fallout 2, though.

You have to listen carefully to the characters dialoge, and they will give you hints on were to go from were you are.
And do whatever you have to for the sake of xp, because without it you're as good as canned meat in-game. TT (Hope it somewhat helps)

Usually the only bugs you find in old games anymore are due to the technological curve. Program bugs are largely patched out.

same here. FO 1 and 2 are my favorite video games of all time, hands down.

and to answer the OP's Ironman question. hell no! first of all, i've always been too ADD to play that much in one sitting. second of all, back when i was playing those games non-stop, they were still super buggy and prone to crashes, so playing without saves was like playing russian roulette with 5 rounds loaded.

ahhhhhh... memories of the Infinite Ians bug. so amusing, but so, so draining on my old computer's processor.

and for the people complaining about bugs: the current versions of those games you can buy pre-patched and 99.95% bug-free.

played 1, 2 and tactics.... maybe i just suck at it but i thought tactics was the hardest out of the lot and i kinda liked the fact they left you without much help or guidance it really made you feel like you were the character naive and just thrown out there with little guidance. i havent played them in a while though im sucked into new vagas at the mo lol

Look I do consider myself a gamer, but I couldn't complete the first or second, because of the combat, the bugs and in general, the old gameplay, the mechanic is just boring and slow.

Too bad, they seem like good games :(
Yeah it's something you just have to deal with if, you might want to RPG's such as the first fallout games.
The game is in constant W.A.T.S. (exept of when you're just runing around all dumb)

I've played, actually. (What? FalloutJack played Fallout 1 and 2? NAW!) Some of the bugs can be patch-fixed. Also, I have a character editor for the second game. It's actually funny stuff.

I've completed Fallout, Fallout 3, and Fallout New Vegas. I loved each of these games, theyre all incredible, however I cant get into Fallout 2 for some reason, it just feels like more of the same from the first Fallout, and its a shame because it looks like an incredible game

I also tried the character editor, and gave her a godlike punch that gave a least 100 points in DAM.
I also gave a shitload of hitpoints and DAM treshold.

I was given fallout 1 by my granny when I was only about 13. It was years and years ago when the games came in the big boxes with all the packaging and extra stuff. But I wasn't allowed to play it because it had a 15 or 16 rating. I forgot about it until last year when I began coming to these forums and found all the fallout threads, I thought, Hey I have that game brought it out, dusted it off and thoughrily enjoyed playing through it, although it is slow placed and I needed walkthoughs and guides on the internet to stand a chance of surviving on my first playthrough, I have also never played a buggier game, but it was an excellent narritive game, and I got quite emotionally attached to my character, so thanks for that escapists.

Oh, and I'd never be able to do an ironman in fallout. That sounds painful.

I did stuff like that at first, but then I decided it wasn't as fun. So, I just tacked on a bunch of experience and racked up my perks. And let's just face it: Fallout 2 DID have the best Happy Fire Dance for when you killed someone with a Flamer.

Plus: I just name all my Fallout characters Jack. No reason. Except, I didn't in New Vegas because technically that era's Jack was still alive.
