You know what I am talking about, those games that you played as a kid and seemed to be full of stars and happiness. Although when you play them again something is missing and you don't enjoy them as much, maybe because we have become used to top-end graphics and cannot settle to anything else.

First off, two games I remember fondly are Timesplitters 2 and Timesplitters Future Perfect. I spent hours on Virus mode with my brothers or friends, then we'd stop, make some more maps on the easy map editor, then play some more. I also remember the different kinds of monkey you could play, especially Brains the undead monkey, and the little robotic fishbowl that would say, "I'm gonna bust your head wide open!" when you select it.

Then going further back I remember playing the original Half-life. Hitting zombies with crowbars was never so much fun.

Then going even unnecessarily further back, I remember playing Pokemon Blue and Blitzing everything just using the pokemon I got at the start.

So what about you guys? Any fond memories?

Also, If there is a way to play Timeplitters on the 360, then enlighten me. I wish they'd hurry up and make the new one.

(There seems to be quite a few threads that have danced around this subject, but Ah well.)

I remember mutant league football and hockey for the genesis. Those were the best sports games I have ever played.

I have quite a few games I played when I was little and I still play now. I don't think they'll ever lose their appeal.
A major one being Vib-Ribbon. Others like Abe's Oddysee, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro The Dragon.

I've been recommended to play Timesplitters but have never gotten around to it.

Runescape is a game that I can't hate because of my previous love for it, but if I try to play it now a days I just find it bland and repetitive.

No One Lives Forever, Deus Ex, and Mafia. Goin back a little further, Zelda: Ocarina of time, and Majora's mask.

The furtherest back I can remember would be Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure, and Paganitzu. And the Lion king game, and the magic school bus space game.

Half-Life one will always have a special place in my heart. To boot, I still play it to this day!

A bit more on topic there were two main games I started my gaming career on:

Ultima Online, the first and to date only (excepting a couple hours on the Eve Online trial) MMO I've ever played. The servers for it are still up and I tried to play it again a couple years back, but it just wasn't the same any more.

Duke Nukem' 3D, bad ass game then, bad ass game now. I have it on xbox live and I've been considering getting it off of Good Old Games just so I can see if it's still possible to download and install custom maps. I still have a zip disk floating around with a bunch of old maps people made...

There's always Future Cop LAPD on the PSX, going back further there's Micro Machines '96 on the Megadrive, and even further well, Sabateur on the ZX-Spectrum, played it when I visited my nan last Christmas, was still really hard.

Doom.

I remember downloading the shareware off a BBS and actually being kind of lukewarm in expectations. Not sure exactly what the description of the files said but it didn't do a very good job of selling the thing. Either way, there was nothing else to download so I ended up getting Doom.

I don't think any game since has been able to replicate the sense of awe and wonderment which followed, haha.

I still play Doom, actually played it last night. Never gets old.
