Rgerading the possible reason for this thread, I sincerely doubt there'll be only one console. Competition is the lifeblood of Capitalism, and unless we all suddenly become Communist overnight, I doubt that will change.
As for buying out the competition? I really don't think any one organisation could own the whole market, because someone would inevitably just start another business and put out a competing model.
