So i recently got Viking battle for asgard for a few pounds but the slow controls left me wanting some sort of quick moving fighting games where your one man against an army some examples that i think fit- Spartan total warrior, dynasty warriors (although ive never played anything other than a demo for this one so i might be mistaken)

Can anyone think of anygames that might fit into this catagory that are good? (for some reason im quite interested in a gundam or bleach game no idea why, but if there are no good games of these franchises avalible in PAL regions then it doesnt really matter)

Platforms- PC or PS3, Thanks in advance

There is the Dynasty warriors gundam series. The most recent game is Dynasty warriors gundam 3, it's a pretty fun game and could be what your looking for. The first game has a demo on the Xbox 360 but I don't think the other two have one.

The third game would probably fit you best as it's much quicker than the others, you can easily end up fighting an army on your own as whatever gundam pilot you want. Be aware that the story is just an excuse to make gundams from different series fight each other though.

I'd recommend a rent at the very least.

Actually I'm pretty sure the latest in the Dynasty Warriors vein is Warriors Orochi 3, I don't know the history or the lore or anything, but I know that Warriors Orochi is supposed to be the Marvel VS Capcom of dynasty warriors, it has 120 playable characters! Here's its trailer:

Hmm maybe dynasty Warriors wasnt really the type of game i was thinking about them, since it all looks abit strange and mostly seems to consist of enamys standing still in melee range while you do all sorts of flash moves then the fall down without any seemsing injuries. Perhaps Spartan would of been the better example, being slightly more grounded

Ninja Gaiden doesn't exactly have you against armies, but there are usually a decent number of enemies and the combat is both fast paced and extremely deep. You can also pick them up cheap with NG2 being under $20 and NG1 being even less (though on the original Xbox so it runs on the 360 via backwards compatibility). You can very easily skip NG3 though as it's much worse than the other two in the series.

The Devil May Cry series might be something like that. I've been interested in looking at it. You might also like God of War, Bayonetta and Heavenly Sword(s?).

Then, there's also this.

I meant it's the latest in the dyasty warriors Gundam series, he asked for something to do with gundam and that's what sprang to mind. Although that Orochi looks pretty interesting, I may have a deeper look into that.

Space Marine. You're one against a horde of enemies. The price has probably dropped by now so I'd say it's worth the Campaign. The Multiplayer isn't that great IMO.

Played Space marine which was alright, DMC was pretty good and god of war was very good. So yea maybe something like that but it would be good if the game had its own way of doing things. (ive heard bayonetta are very similar to DMC and GoW respectively)

So something thats quick to play like GoW or DMC while having abit more "reaction" from you enemies like SM would be pretty much exactly like what i was looking for (not sure if reaction was the right word but hopefully it will get my point across)

Melee combat is also what im looking for rather than ranged combat. (ive also played the Assassins creed games incase that also comes up and they are abit "easy" in their combat as all you have to do is either constantly attack or just block. although they are still good games dont get me wrong)

Did you make sure to try out the Exterminatus mode? It's more 4-man army than one man, but it's pretty damn fun, wiping out hordes of Orks. Aside from blatent misuse of the word exterminatus, it's the dogs bollocks. Also the arcade game Kill Team that they released alongside is pretty good, though I can only confirm that it was released for 360, it'd be a shame if they didn't put it to other platforms too. Man, all I can think is 40k now, totally distracted from all other suggestions I had. It'll come to me.

A ok ish game is 99 nights, though that game has such atrocious voice acting for the main character is it painful to listen too.

Otogi games are like this. They feature challenges like 400-hit combos and the like, which you get by slicing up armies of weird and beautiful monsters. It's by From Software, the same developer that did Demon's Souls and Dark Souls.

EDIT: Also, destructible everything.

There's this little game called Sengoku Basara... And by little I mean huge and excellent.
That actually looks pretty interesting the rank and file still seems strangly unwilling to attack and the japanese thing of people just taking the hits and always just getting hit and knocked back rather than getting impaled etc so its lacking abit of the impact i was looking for when fighting.

More games need destructible everything, that was my favorite part of games like Mercinaries 2 and Earth Defense Force: IA. Nothing says "I win" than the entire city block where the enemies used to be being reduced to a pile of rubble.

i played an earth defense force clone recently and had alot of fun with it. i can't say anything about the real games, but they're probably even more fun. you have teammates i guess, but you might as well be a one man army for how useful they were in the game i played >.> i usually just ended up killing them myself on purpose so they would stay out of my shots and/or not blow me up. friendly fire is a pain with all those AoE weapons around. :/

Things that i can think of...

Devil May Cry 3- On PS3 as part of a HD collection. The other 2 games in the collection arent quite up to DMC3's standards.
Devil May Cry 4
Bayonetta
God Hand- Available on PSN. Hard as fuck too.

Those are the only ones ive actually played.

Maybe try the Armor Core games. It's a series of mech games, very much centered around the concept of one mech fighting a massive army of enemies in pretty much every stage (except boss fights which tend to be one on one). You can also customize A LOT about your mech, so if you want to make a mech with a focus on speed and melee you can easily do that.
