What is you personal opinion on online multiplayer in most shooters?

Personally I think that sniper rifles are way overused, in most games it's hard to go a whole match without having at least 5 snipers. I'm not saying that anyone who snipes is bad, but I can't stand people who do nothing but use that stupid weapon throughout an entire match. Especially when they ignore objectives and just shoot everyone.

Halo's multiplayer is highly overrated. While it is fun to take part in the constant explosions and chaos, there are too many people with extremely squeaky voices and/or an need to curse excessively. While the objective-based games such as CTF, Assault, and Infection are great fun, I found that the straight-up Slayer matches are basically just everyone running around shooting at each other from 10 feet away until they can get close enough to melee each other.

I rather enjoyed the more strategic combat of COD4, since each weapon has its own specialization, there really isn't a single standard weapon that is "better" than the others, where in Halo it sometimes boils down to whoever runs to the center of the map and grabs the rocket launcher is going to kill everyone unless he is retarded, runs out of ammo, or meets someone with a better weapon. The one problem with COD4's multiplayer is that since there really isn't a terribly large amount of variety, it doesn't maintain it's fun as long as Halo does, with tons of weapons, vehicles, and explosions to spice things up and keep it interesting.

Sniping is a really good thing to have in a FPS, apart from when the sneaky people camp constantly, shooting you every time you re-spawn. Also it annoyes me players stays constantly stay in one area whether its were the enemy is or not, they just stay in the safest place they can.

Halo has just annoyed me from the very start, probably because all my friends are constantly trying to get me to buy the stupid trilogy. I havnt nothing that much against HAlO i just think its overrated and so is the multi player.

The only FPS games iv ever truly enjoyed were Battlefield 2 and Countersrike.

This is going to become another CoD4 vs Halo 3 war.And imho CoD4 is FAR from Strategic.Unless camping around and picking off unsuspecting players can be called a "strategy".

Average CoD4 Build:
M16/P90
Desert Eagle
3x Frag
Juggernaut/Stopping Power
Martyrdom

Then again my Halo 3 experience is currently limited to Custom Games(FTW!) with my friends.Matchmaking got boring, especially since they turned 2x EXP Weekends into DLC exclusive.

Sniper rifles are fun in close combat actually
Remember the Sniper Rifle from UT99? That was one awesome weapon to have, headshot or two shots anywhere else and the enemy lay dead before your feet.
C´mon long range = awesome, mid range = awesome, close range = awesome

Halo MP I only ever played once against two friends so I´ve got no idea on internet play.

Generally I don´t play FPSs online that much but from what I heard from friends I probably should be thankful for that.

Well its not a FPS but it must be one of the best online shooters Gears. Yes the sniper is overused there but if you cant use a sniper in gers you almost alwaysed payed the price, the brice of cource being 582 bullets to the brain. But still it was good in that if you have someone running at you with a shotgun you can easly just mow them down with the good ol' lancer and if that doesnt work itl be chainsaw time.
So yes Gears prob' the bes online shooter i have played.

well snipers are over-used, but let it go, let em do wat they want...go kill them or sumthing. easy way to avoid that is play a spec ops FPS like a Rainbow Six game. the percentage of snipers drops significantly.
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is a great 1 by the way.

Some of my best online gaming moments comes from sniper duels. There?s nothing like trying to move as slowly as possible then stopping and staring at every little detail of the environment waiting for your opponent to slip up. Aside from sniper rifles I prefer to use SMGs and Assault rifles with silencers affixed.

They are definitely some of the best stress relievers EVER. I mean, come on, who WOULDN'T want to walk around with a minigun, mowing down smaller enemies with a similarly small guy standing behind you with temporary invulnerability or critical ability ready, if these little guys get smart and attack in a wave?

Yeah, TF2. Best. PC. FPS. Ever. I've played CSS, and HL2DM as well. I've also played Halo 3, Halo 1, and a bit of Red Steel with some friends, and discovered that I SUCK ASS with console controls.

But seriously, the chaos, the blowy-uppy-stuff, and the moments that become inside jokes in your clan. You gotta love'm.

I've got to admit, I absolutely love TF2. It is one of the best games I've ever played. The gameplay is fantastic, the graphics have a fresh style that appeals to me tremendously, and the community is usually friendly. I play the XB360 version and it's great fun, but the lag kills a big part of the experience for me. I get lag issues where everyone appears as a red scout with their gun floating in front of them.

But TF2 is one of the best games for relieving stress, mowing down soldiers that are so much smaller than you, blowing everything up, making jokes about that crappy medic on the blue team, good times.
