Perhaps I'm the only one that feels this way, but I find the vibrato effect employed by EVERY female opera singer is something akin to that guy you really hate when you play rock band because he has the compulsion to use the whammy bar on every single sustained note, and it absolutely ruins the song because the lovely sustained note now sounds like s beginner musician fishing for tuning. So the discussions I would like to present are these: What do you liken opera to and why? Do you like opera or just pretend to so that you might sound cultured? And lastly: Do you think the wonderful fantastic beautiful orchestral pieces that are the backing for opera are made better or worse by the involvement of singing?
