Is there an anime out there that is clean? By that I mean is there an anime out there that doesn't have over the top violence, sexuality, or language?

I'm straining really hard to think of animes that can fit into the G/PG rating and the only ones I can think of are a few Miyazaki movies.

EDIT: Since "out of curiosity" seems to be too vague for some people, I'll post what really got me thinking about this. Please refer to post 12 on this forum.

No. Last year when I was taking Japanese (graduated) I remember that our teacher wanted to show us anime, but couldn't really find any that was "school appropriate". And she said that if you ever find a good "G/PG" anime that would be good for school, then to tell her. And for whatever reason I just now remembered that request. (Not that it would do any good because I'm graduated, but I'm still curious, hence the title.)

On the language front is is often hard to say as lots of subbers will often "spice up" the dialog. Bakuman is tame, some romance type anime doesn't have over the top sexuality, mainly the ones in the josei and senin categories. Really a lot of anime is those categories would fit. Eden of the east, Kaiji (thought is does have some blood in it) and Paranoia Agent for some more random exampls.

I think there are quite a few anime that get censored for TV viewing. DBZ (Dragonball Z)had the funny english dubbed voices claiming people escaping the ship shot out of sky. Other anime censor out the blood making it completely black. There are some clean animes, just mostly more kid friendly storywise. The more violent, sexy, and action series do get edited, but are still watchable.

Lucky Star is another, but if you're looking for it for kids (as I'm guessing with the G/PG dealie) then the jokes might sail over their heads. But a lot of it is also discussion on various topics that kids might find boring.

just a sec...

Ok, Ouran High School Host Club is another. It makes fun of a lot of shoujo anime (anime designed for young women), and the most sexuality you have to worry about is that the main character accidentally gets recruited into a host club targeted at posh young girls where attractive men throw tea parties for and make small talk with them, then the club spends the rest of the year trying to hide the fact that she (main character) is a girl from the rest of the school. Yeah, no nudity, but still, I know not too many people in the West consider cross-dressing an acceptable topic.

There is also Yakitate Ja-pan (pan is Japanese for bread, and the rest is the rest of the joke). If that's not kid safe, I really can't tell you what is. If you haven't guessed by the title, the entire plot is baking. That's it.

I know I've seen others, and I have access to a lot more here, but between working 50 hours a week or so, and not knowing what has and hasn't been translated, I don't have many other suggestions I can be sure of.

Yu-Gi-Oh! if you watch the dub. XD

Cardcaptor's/Cardcaptor Sakura(the dub's more male oriented and the original version is only if you're okay with romance,((Homosexual Romance aswell.)) the dub is more oriented on humour and took out most of the romance. Sakura's also more stronger)

Tokyo Mew Mew

Duel Master's

Beyblade

Bakugan

uuh.. wow this is a hard question.
Chobits is kind of in the gray area..
Then Gundam series I guess. No real sex or gory violence. Just Robots beating the hell out of each other over diplomatic reasons I never cared about.

If you dont want that then stop watchin anime.
Even death note has an extremely violent overtone.
There too many slice of life animes being made now. I want violence, language and sexuality. I want more high school of the dead and corpse princess. I want retarded senseless awesomeness with great story and characters.

Oh, wait... how did I forget Detective Conan? Anyway, that too.
Its pretty much anime-Sherlock Holmes. Only weird thing is, the main character/detective dude gets reverted to being a child by some mad scientist, and after explaining things to the police chief, moves in with him. Police chief happens to be his girlfriend's father (said girlfriend is completely kept in the dark about this.)

Also, definitely this...

To clarify, computers are all female androids, man loves computer (that he finds wrapped in bandages in the trash), and little kid has four supercomputers wearing corset and garter style maid outfits. And, considering the location of the power button, not for kids.

Eyeshield 21 (American Football anime)
Summer Wars (a little cartoon violence but very little blood. Movie by the way.)

EDIT: Another possible is Mushishi.

I've only seen Season 1 of Spice and Wolf, but I think it meets your criteria. There isn't much nudity in it, and it is never really sexualized. (Is that a word?) It is also pretty low on violence. If you're looking for something for your kids to watch though, the plot of the show might be a bit over their heads. There is very little foul language as well.

As for the quality of the anime itself, I watched it on a whim and I am very glad I did. The English dub was amazingly well done and the story, animation, and interactions between the characters are very good. It's one of my all time favorite anime.

Most of the stuff that ends up on toonami. Code Lyoko. Pokemon. Digimon. I can't remember for sure, but I think Kiba was pretty clean as well. That's a good starting point.

There's many, assuming that "only a little bit" is under "over-the-top" (when you say "over-the-top, I assume you're talking about the stereotypical view of anime as excessive violence and excessive sexuality?) for you. If you're looking for "ZERO", that's a slight tougher question, assuming you're excluding kid's anime and family anime. Here's some from the "only a little bit" group:

30 Centimeters Per Second, A Traveller`s Diary, Ah! My Goddess!, Animation Runner Kuromi-chan, Azumanga Daioh, Bartender, Boku, Otaryman, Candy☆Boy, Cromartie High School, Genshiken, Hana-Saku Iroha, Hataraki-Man, Honey and Clover, Human Crossing, Irresponsible Captain Tylor, K-On!, Lovely Complex, Lucky Star, Maison Ikkoku (mostly, though one of the characters often wears semi-transparent sleepwear), Maria Watches Over Us, My Little Sister Can`t Be This Cute, My Ordinary Life, Ouran High School Host Club, Plantes, Princess Jellyfish, Ristorante Paradiso, Sasameki Koto, School Rumble, She and Her Cat, Spice and Wolf, Squid Girl, Summer Wars, Sweet Blue Flowers, Tetsuko's Travels (it's a series about riding TRAINS for god's sake!) The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, The Place Promised in Our Early Days, The Sound of the Sky, The Slayers, The Tatami Galaxy, The World God Only Knows, Time of Eve, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, Toradora!, Urusei Yatsura, Usagi Drop, Victorian Romance Emma, Voices of a Distant Star, Wandering Son, We Still Don`t Know the Name of the Flower We Saw That Day, Winter Sonata, Working!!, You're Under Arrest, Yurumates

As you can see, there's PLENTY of anime that don't fit the stereotype ;)

ah, ok. Well, I'd still give the recommendation of watching it yourself (in this case, since you know best how draconian or lax your school's policies are). And especially if you liked the class, or the teacher, try and pass it along anyway if you find a way.
I still remember snafus over our class watching Tanpopo.

Also, consider that you may be asking yourself the same question in 10 or 20 years, if you have children or nieces and nephews by then (I'm considering this question now for the latter.)

Pokemon would be a good choice. Violence is kiddy grade. Digimon or Zatch Bell would be decent selections too.
You have clearly never seen this episode of Pokemon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkZLE1MsYCs It wasn't shown in the U.S. for obvious reasons.
