At my school this happened: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-12392700

It was the kid's Grandpa's grenade(he also according to my friend who's little brother is friends with the kid brought it into primary school a few years back and there was no trouble there) which was deactivated and because one of the teachers over reacted we were out on the icy pitches for 2hours, and what's the first thing you do when you have a pitch full of ice you can move about? Giant cocks'Teachers have praised pupils for their behaviour during this period' seems a bit silly now:p Shame they didn't take aerial pictures of the pitch.

Although we thought it was just another **** messing with the fire alarm again, (me and my friend even contemplated not bothering to leave since it was too much of a hassle) until they started closing off the school, then plenty of rumours were created about bombs and BAM(the company who made the school) actually built it on top of a nuclear bomb so the Dutch can begin their invasion of the world.

So Escapist, has anything happened to you or your school which you think people over reacted about? Did it make the news? or post anything relating to the thread, maybe you brought in a deactivated grenade for show and tell.

Overreaction in our school? Well, no not really. I suppose the only overreaction was because of a genuine threat; a natural gas leak during construction. The younger grades were panicked, ecstatic, basically jumping around everywhere during the evacuation.

Sure, it ended school for the day but I didn't get to go home for another 3 hours despite living very close to the school. I had to be "supervised" in the local town auditorium until the all clear was sounded. The whole thing was just a giant annoyance.

Back when I was in high school it didn't snow much where I lived (Douglasville, Georgia), so people would lose their shit when a few flakes started falling from the sky.

People also seemed to take the high school graduation ceremony WAY too seriously. When I told people I wouldn't be attending they looked at me like I'd just turned down sex with Mila Kunis with a smile on my face.

Did he get his grenade back? I'd want it back if it was from WWI.

I don't think so, our secondary school was fairly boring. We all got excited when dogs would wander in... damn rural schools.

At least you get to have bomb threats! No one would bomb my town. No one would really care.

Amen brother, the gas leak story is literally all my school had in terms of spontaneity.

Well, I don't miss High School XD

Nothing like that ever happened at my school... One of the most exciting things I remember is when my dog escaped at lunch time and ran through the corridors after she had followed me back. (I lived right across from the school so she didn't go far).

One of the dinner ladies caught her... I had to drag her home by the collar and it made me late for the first lesson. xD It entertained people though.

I don't know. I'm sure once they have checked it he will be allowed it back. I'd be annoyed if someone took my grenade.

There was a 'lockdown' alarm in which we all have to stay inside the classrooms, close the blinds, hide under the tables and lock the door.

It was one of the builders working on painting windows outside the geography block.

Who cares if your school is boring, as long as you grace it with your presence! Criminals are too scared to try anything while you're there.

Hopefully I might be able to add something to the school, the only trophies and achievements we have are miscellaneous sports trophies and a shiny racing trophy which we got because a former student won something or other and then he got ran over. :/

I lived right outside the good school district, so I had to go to the school with all the trailer trash and gang members. So yeah, there were bomb threats almost every month, people started huge fights, and someone got shanked.

And then at RT some dumbass said they thought someone had a knife, so everyone had to have their racks inspected and then it turned out to be nothing.

Hmm. Well, once at my first high school during the middle of December something happened that made them evacuate the school. Of course, this had to happen conveniently during a portion of Spirit Week called "Tropics Day" or something of the sort. So most kids were out in the snow in t-shirts and shorts (some were in sandals as well). We were out there for long enough to the point where they sent us to the middle school across the field. There were a lot of rumours involving fires and pranks but we never found out what actually happened.

You've got to be weary of those builders! You never know what their up to.

We just had a bunch of fist fights at my school. Nothing too exciting except when one of the security guards busted a kids head open when he tackled him.

At our local shopping center by my school, some of our school's pupils were caught vandalising the place so the shopping center got police there to arrest any of our school's pupils caught so much as loitering, even if it was in the library!

Nothing "overreacted", but my school made the top story on the news last year when a student walked into a class and stabbed one of his peers. School went into lockdown (Does that count as an overreaction?).
