I've been, in a way, shocked back awake by sounds or strange thoughts, but I've never actually felt pain while sleeping.

In fact, many of my dreams are vaguely sexual in nature, so no pain there. ;D

I think your brain just imagines the pain or it somehow makes your nerves respond.

I got stabbed once in a dream and felt a pressure on my torso, not painfull but I felt it

Yes. In one dream I was hit by a bus. My vision in the dream blurred and I felt a dulling pain. Then In the dream my vision transfered into my soul and it floated upwards and I witnessed myself bleedout on the ground.

It's happened to me once or twice. The worse one I can remember was when I got hung by the heels (in my dream). My legs lost all feeling in them, I could feel the rope around my ankles, then the blood rushing to my head.
[sub]Well okay, it wasn't pain but I did feel all the sensations of what happened in my dream.[/sub]
I didn't like it; waking up from that was really disorientating.

I only remember the dreams I have that say something about my mental state, and I barely remember those so I never remember the sensations. I've been trying to, ever since I heard about that "gamers have lucid dreams" thing, but it just hasn't happened...

I once had a dream where my toy squirrel beat me up. As far as I can remember, that hurt. It also happened to be so convincing that I believed it actually happened (I was fairly young), but I don't know how much that has to do with it.
This is very cute, funny and tragic all at the same time. Solid gold.

I have indeed felt pain in dreams, sometimes it is the kind of pain that dissapears when I wake up (I get shot etc.) But one time, I dreamt I was having a duel with swords on a little platform, then I was stabbed, I could feel the pain of the sword entering my flesh... it stung. I woke up right after using my last breath in the dream to stab the bad guy. And I still felt that sharp sting in my side...

I was molested by a jellyfish in a dream 2 weeks ago.
I hate jellyfish, and for whatever reason there was a gigantic one the size of the indian ocean. And I was there, trapped between it and the seafloor begging for it to not touch me, but it ran its tentacles over my skin. And then I woke up writhing in my bed.

I often dream of combat.
From swordfights to gunfights, from tank warfare to castle sieges, etc.
I often end up dead or wounded in them.

My nightmares are usually about entrapment, like enclosed in a very tight space, or unable to move when 'something' is approaching.

Never any pain though.

Unless you count my migraines.
Getting a migraine in your sleep makes for a very, VERY shitty night.

I mentioned this in another thread.

So I was being pulled along by this dragon over a forest, and throughout the whole dream it felt like I was choking on something, and there was this persistent feeling of vertigo.

It was incredibly uncomfortable.

I got shot in a dream ones, it burned like a lot.

it was way weird cuz I didn't wake up until I actually died.
I'd gotten the same feeling too once. In one of my dreams I was taking on an army by myself and then I got shot in the stomach and the pain woke me up.

I once had a dream where a murderer was gutting me with a knife and I woke up with my body still feeling the ghost blade. Freaky.

Migraines destroy the peaceful nature of sleeping. I usually can't sleep if I have one but once I got one while asleep. I was dreaming about storming a house in a WWII era fantasy when all of a sudden the freakiest monsters started attacking my head. When I woke up, I had a splitting headache.

Too bad you can't take advil or whatever in your dreams.

Never feel pain in my dreams, i get a strange sensation when i am hurt but it's nothing like real pain, and i usually wake up if i am about to get hurt.

Worst i've had is during this odd few days when all of my dreams ended with a nuke going off and me being in the blast radius.
Running away in crowds, the glare in the distance, and then watching a pyroclastic cloud move towards you knowing your death is just seconds away. Fucking terrifying D:

The sensation i got was a weird warm fuzzyness enveloping my body that felt like it was suffocating me.
