turns out they are making Paranormal Activity 3 which frankly is a worse idea than Final Destination 5.
now, i really liked the first Paranormal Activity. it was scary, very cleverly done especially given the budget and i really enjoyed it. the second one was OK but was completely unnecessary and now they're making a third? WHY? looks like the film will focus on Katie and her sister's childhood.

as far as i'm concerned, the we didn't need #2 and we certainly don't need #3.

your thought?

I didn't really like either, I do have respect for the first film though, tiny budget and all that.

I'l probably get roped into seeing this, but i'l not get my hopes up.

EDIT: Probably worth mentioning that I liked how the second film tied into the first, It takes place before, during and after the events of the first. Which is pretty neat.

I won't lie, I am intrigued.

While I'm a backer of the whole "less is more" rule, sometimes less it just boring. The scariest parts in Paranormal Activity 1 and 2 for me, was when you felt something had a presence, when you knew something was watching. When a shadow walks past or something leaves markings on the wall. Doors being slammed and stuff can be scary (although when done 8000 times, not so much) but it just makes the enemy feel like nothing more than just a force.

When something has a presence, it has a motive, a mind, and that is far more scary in my opinion.

However the truth is it can only go down from here. The first film worked on a novelty, and a novelty can only last so long before it becomes tiresome.

Heck, I'll still watch it though.

I actually only watched Paranormal Activity for the first time about a month ago. I'm interested to see where PA3 will go, but considering it's a prequel and that Katie and Kristi managed to make it into adulthood, I'm pretty sure the ending will be a bit predictable.

unless it does what #2 did and take place before, during and after the other films.

...Bloody Mary did it all?!
Nah, but I'll probably see this. I wasn't scared by either of them, I respected the first film due to it's uniqueness and that it was on a budget. The sequel was boring garbage but this kind of looks interesting, if only to get some backstory. Probably see this at the cinema like I did with the first.

I thought the 1st one was exteremely overhyped and i didnt find it scay, i didnt even jump to the end
but i could at least see how it COULD be scary for others and it did at least build a nice atmosphere

The second one had more likable characters (somewhat) but everything else was worse than the original

So i cant really say im looking forward to the 3rd one

It's a horrible idea. The first one was a major crapfest. OOoooo a sheet moved how scary!!! I shit scarier stuff than that movie. I never bothered with the second one because I hated the first one so much.

At this rate we'll have Paranormal Activity Vs. Freddy crossover, or else the entire film will end at the opening credits, and the projector man at the back announces that a ghost stole the film reel. OOH spooky!

I wonder if Bob will attack this like he did Hangover 2, I mean that's all the last movie was, and it looks like this movie is going to be the same exact thing

..Sigh.

Paranormal Activity is where it should have ended. Paranormal Activity 2 I just watched, and well.. predictable as fuck. But a Paranormal Activity 3, and shoehorning in Bloody Mary as being the supernatural force behind it all?

..Well, I know what I won't be watching. That Bloody Mary stuff still creeps the fuck out of me (I can't watch past the beginning of the bathroom scene in the trailer in fear of an image - is there actually anything there?), and I even braved the last horror movie that featured the legend.. didn't sleep for days. >_<

Never did see anything after the first one because I hated it.
Paranormal Activity was just... boring to me. I'm not really sure what the appeal of it is passed it being low budget but to me, it showed horribly and it made me sick watching it.
Not that it was so bad I got sick, but the shakey-cam stuff just made me nauseous. I guess this is to be expected though. The first did well and the second... I guess did well too so a third was bound to happen.

Dara O'Briain once said that there are three states of legality in Irish law. The first is "that's grand", the second is "ah now, don't push it", and the third is "RIGHT! YOU'RE TAKING THE PISS!".

My feelings for Paranormal Activity 3 can be summed up with that last part.

Okay, honestly, I liked the first one, but didn't see the second one, even though I thought the parallel timeline concept was clever. So I'm probably not going to see this one, either, but, like the second one, I think that the concept is clever. Well, okay, maybe not "clever" per se, but it's better than most sequels, in that the existence of the events of this movie were mentioned and briefly described in the first movie. It fits into the timeline, so it furthers our understanding of the universe, which is what a good sequel should do. You can understand why they would make it, and how it logically follows the two that preceded it, which is more than I can say for something like Final Destination 5 or any sequel to any slasher movie (except for maybe Nightmare On Elm Street 3 or New Nightmare).

I'll drag my friend to see it in cinemas just so I can see him start crying over it again. Tears are delicious

I have only see PA1 and I found it to be a boring experience. I even fell asleep in the theater watching that borefest and I wasn't even tired when I went to see it. Definitely going to pass on PA3 because its going to be the same garbage over again. A majority of the movie will be boring set up and then we'll see the ghost in action for like 10 minutes and then roll credits. The people involved with making PA seem to not to know the difference between building atmosphere and just being plain old boring.

Anyone ever hear of Apollo 18? It kind of follows the mockumentary "found footage" model, but it looks pretty good to me.

that probably is exacter why they are doing it. even if they don't make as much profit as the others they will still probably make a HUGE fortune
