I am having a party soon where I am expecting my friends to get a little drunk this is fine. there is one friend that I am worried about. He is the friend that almost ruined my last party by hitting one of the other guests while drunk. They have since then made up and there are no real hard feelings between them. I have already invited him (he is a friend after all) and I am going to talk to the other reoccuring guests that were present at my last party to tell them that he is coming.

What I am asking is this would it be right of me to demand that he does not get drunk at my party? I am expecting almost everyone that attend to get drunk but he has behaved very badly before so I am worried about him and the other guests. I was going to tell him that he is welcome to drink alcohol but the moment he gets drunk he is out. is this acceptable?

Being that guy that got wasted and made an arse of himself, what they did was they banned me from drinking alcohol the next party. It was fine.

In your case, just allow him to be just under "Drunk." He should be fine, if he isn't, kick him out.

Also the word "Party pooper" made me remember this.

You can't really dictate that he cannot drink he has to decide for himself. Otherwise he'll end up getting even more wasted just to rebel against you.

Perhaps it was just a one off or has he a history of drunken violence?

Talk to him. Tell him that the fact that he hit your friend last time makes you uneasy about having him drink at your party. If it was a one-off thing, then he'll most likely agree that his behaviour wasn't cool. If he's done this before and you see it happening again, just don't invite him. Sounds like it would be more of a hassle for you having to worry about him getting drunk and being stupid.
