Path of Exile Closed Beta date announced

For those of you who don't know about Path of Exile, it's everything Diablo 3 should have been. It's a free to play game, but unlike most f2p games you don't buy power (which reminds me, NOOO D3 HAS BUYABLE POWER). Instead, the game is funded by cosmetics which have no ingame advantage. Basically hats from TF2, or skins in league of legends. You could buy different skins, dragon headed fireballs, or crows which follow you and peck out the eyes of your defeated enemies.

The only thing I don't like at the moment is the UI, which looks outdated. Happily that's getting an update in a couple of weeks. Can't wait for beta to start I AM EXCITE

Looks interesting. Doesn't really sell itself as a Diabloid dungeon crawler though, and uses a lot of terms that turn me off to the concept. Still, might be a decent holdover until Torchlight 2 arrives.

Assuming, of course, I don't just hop back to Torchlight 1.

Problem with the torchlight series is the cartoony graphics, and the storyline isn't that great. I haven't played Path of Exile yet but from what the devs have said, there's a pretty decent storyline.

Of course, who plays ARPGs for the story ;o
