article [http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1133863/Cricket-team-told-Crusaders--case-offends-Muslims-Jews.html]

I'm not a Brit, but I'm curious as to how angry/passive you guys are to the Middlesex Crusaders having to change their name after 10 years because someone 'might' get offended. On a side note, the new name might get banned as well because it 'might' offend PETA.

When I take over the planet, I'll set up a Global Sensitivity Squad. The GSS will be made up of large men with big, heavy fists, who go to the houses of anyone offended at something, then repeatedly punch them in the crotch until they realise that there are more important things in life to worry about than political correctness.

I'll also have Everest carved into a massive monument to me, then I'll get to the business of getting Mankind off this stinking dirt ball and into Spaaaaaaaaaace....

This is horrible. Do you know how many Christians the crusaders also killed?

You guys should petition the government to change Manchester to Personchester in case anyone might get offended.

On one hand, the name "Crusaders" is apparently offensive enough to draw complaints from the community, although I personally wonder how many of them were actually from the communities they claimed to represent.

On the other hand, the name apparently doesn't seem to be an attempt to ram anyone's faith down anyone else's throat.

And on my third hand, why aren't these people worried about offending Orthodox Christians [en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourth_crusade]?

EDIT: Never mind that last one, someone else already said it.

Fuck, I'd support you... as long as you make me Minister of Internal Affairs... and I can do some punching.

yeah dude, I think it was the 3rd crusade where they raided a Christian city and killed everyone? I know it was one of the 4.

and besides, who cares? aren't there more important things going on in the world right now that deserve attention more than a sports team name?

Guess that means I'll stop play Dark Crusade then......It happened a long time ago, you won. GET OVER IT. If you want people to embrace you into our country then don't do this.

PC-ness is a bad idea in general, it's just a circle of offense where the first person to complain wins, and all because some people just have to blow things completely out of proportion. I can understand people getting offended when racial slurs are used against them, but because something is named in a way that reminds you of something that happened long long ago to a group that you're affiliated with? They need to just deal with it and move on.

On the other hand, I AM OFFENDED about how you named this thread! PC is the term for Personal Computers, and while I know that was not the way you used the word; the relation is there. I demand you change it or I'll sue your pants off for emotional damage! (Same logic that was used to get the Crusaders renamed)

Damn, and here I was hoping this was an article about how some PC video games AI took over a small country or something.

Oh it thought this was going to be another pro-console rant.

I find our PC society hilarious because of how absurd some people appear 'dedicated' to. If they just took one step backward out of their own little warped up, selfish life that they have created for themselves they would see how much of an idiot they're making themselves look.

Baa Baa Rainbow sheep, have you any wool...

They're probably going to have to amend that again soon for fear of offending persons that come from countries that produce wool.

Baa baa rainbow sheep, have you any adamantium...

Wait! What about sheep's rights!?

Squawk squawk rainbow griffin, have you any adamantium...

So...what? They're going to rename our basketball team to something else, because it's named after a battle in which we crushed the Germans, because they might be offended? Or maybe we should change our capitals basketball team's name, because it was used to describe our resistance against Russians, so they might think of it as offensive?

Honestly, all of this P C nonsense has been over-the-top since the very beginning. It basically means that we have to restrict a huge amount of words and things we may want to say, just so no one would find it offensive. And what if some people find PC offensive, eh? What then?

Meh, I can understand this, unlike the whole "Sea kittens" thing PETA are trying to pull off.
I guess it's someting to do with the fact the team's name isn't as old and used as "Fish".

#1. It's cricket.
#2. Where did Germany come into this?

Not sure about the 3rd, but I know during the 4th they plundered Constantinople.

Looking at this article i thought only one thing:

What about those bastard Kent Spitfires? Think of the poor Germans. How many poor German pilots were killed by spitfires in the second world war. Its a disgrace frankly. And i'm writing to the guardian to start the protest.

I'm not speaking about this particular cricket renaming. It's specific examples of Local Pre-PC names. Our Basketball team is named after "Tannenberg", where the Germans lost in 1410. So, by PC logic, they could ask us to change our name, because it's somehow offensive to the Germans.
