PC No Audio

Need help with audio issue on PC.
My usb head phone broke and had to resort to stranded (3.5mm jack) headphones, but for some reason my computer can detect the headphones both by windows and the Realtek software and the little green volume bar moves when listen to something, problem is that I get no sound at all in headphones. Any help would be appreciated.

Do the headphones work at all? Try plugging them into something else - MP3 player, phone, TV. Other than that, see if you plugged them in the right place - the microphone and something-else-I-can't-remember-right-now use the same jacks but aren't interchangeable. Well, Realtec would probably tell you if you got it wrong but it's still worth noting. Normally, if you plug the earphones in the microphone slot (for example), you'll still get normal sound from the speakers...if you have any.
