H.R. Giger's 'Alien', is in my opinion, the perfect monster.

Why?

It has everything that instinctually or physically creeps people out.

It's jet black in colour,
Has a vaguely humanoid outline,
Insectoid exoskeleton,
No face - save for a maw bristling with fangs,
Has a rictus grin,
Long spider-like fingers,
No remorse - no emotion at all and has frickin' acid for blood.

It was made to kill and kill is what it'll do. It's silent, doesn't need eyes or ears, Hell, we don't even if it smells - it just knows you're there.

If the Bogeyman himself has a natural shape - this is it.

And fuck the whole male rape and phallic thing - Giger is Freud's wet dream made real. Forget it, it's kinda weird.

What I want it people's opinions on what they believe to be the perfect monster from a movie or videogame. I'm trying to be a little serious here, so post reasons for why you think it's the perfect monster, and not just saying 'THIS' and posting a pic will do.

The Motaba Virus from Outbreak.

A deadly, virulent virus from the jungles of Zaire. Early stages resemble the flu, with pink eyes, coughing and fever. In later stages, the fever rises as high as 108, and victims seize violently, break out in skin lesions and bleed internally, causing a dark rash on the skin. Motaba incubates in 24 hours and kills in 48. The virus is 100% fatal. There is an airborne strain of Motaba. There is no treatment.
It's goal is simple. Kill.

Draenai from WarCraft.

First Alian Race I've actually kind of enjoyed. They're like the Watchers of the Marvel Universe, but they've actually decided to do crud.

Plus, the females are decent looking, even if they are a little... Gnome Hungry.

I think that the bunny is the perfect creature because it's cute and it likes to breed.

Anyway, I believe that the Alien I guess really is the perfect creature. It's strange how you didn't post a picture though...

I think we're losing the plot here, mate. I'm looking for monsters - beasties, brutes, freaks, creeps and all out demonic horrors.
I know the thread name is 'Perfect Creature', but I'm looking for monsters.

AND THE KILLER RABBIT FROM HOLY GRAIL DOESN'T COUNT.

...Anymore...

I'm going to go with the creations in Monster Lab. Obedient, powerful, and you can change them to your whim to make them more efficient killing machines.

I think that the orks from warhammer 40k are, they have an inbuilt genious for mechanics, love to fight, and they can breed in vast numbers (via spores). though they are extremely stupid.

P.S: Alien man-rape thing? never heard of it 0_0

You know, I''ve got a suspicion about 'Aliens': I think they're walking batteries. This is based upon two of their aspects.

1: Their blood is a strong acid (like a car battery).
2: In Alien vs. Predator (PC) the Predator uses electric-sensitive vision to detect the Aliens in dark places.

Also, the Aliens themselves weren't necessarily symbolic of rape; it was more that the plot of the the Alien movie centered around the theme of rape. But yeah, Freud would have a field day with Geiger. I mean, have you seen his other artwork? Somebody has a very strange view of human sexuality.

OT: The Gray Goo: AKA - Out-of-control Von Neumann Nanomachines.

A Von Neumann device is a machine that is capable of reproducing. Hypothetically, a sufficiently sophisticated Von Neumann device could be designed to build copies of itself out of virtually any substance.

Like hydrocarbons.

Yeah.

This one is the perfect monster, because it epitomizes everything humans fear about machines and technology; that one day, either by design or by folly, our machines will outpace their creators and destroy us all.

(I know this isn't from a videogame or movie, but...) The Martians from Jeff Wayne's Musical version of The War of the Worlds has to be the perfect creature for me.
The battle cries TERRIFY me still. The music send shivers through my body with anxious enthralment. The whole thing instils fear throughout my entire being!
Even though they all die out because of bacteria... THEY'RE STILL FUCKING SCARY AS HELL!

However, If I had to pick one from game/movie it would have to be Killer Croc from Arkham Asylum. Mostly because of the sheer size/appearance of that thing! And that Batman doesn't even try to face him, he just kinda has to run away from it(Batman would've had no chance!). And if Batman can't beat it, nothing can!

I don't mean to insult or offend, but you do know that that virus was based on a real one, right? Ebola, the subject of The Hot Zone, on which Outbreak was loosely based.

Perfect Creature?

Ah, I never take the Alien as scaty when used in context with Avp - even though I like the games and even the first movie, they're more like a horde monster, like the Orks from Warhammer 40K.
The first film had one Alien and that managed to take out almost an entire crew or trained professionals who work on that ship. The thing fucking scares me.

Speaking of things, John Carpenter's Thing monster comes second for me. Nice and hideous, but the Alien is my favourite.
