I kind of wanna try to play this game, not maybe for the best of reasons but still, I've watched EC talk about the game and got interested. Can you play it on PC? Because I do own a counsel, Nintendo Wii but...yeah... I don't usually play games but...yeah...it caught my attention. Worth it? For a someone not really a gamer?

You could emulate it if your PC is good enough*, I guess, but that wouldn't be entirely, er... legal in your case. PS2s are pretty cheap nowadays, though, just depends on if you wanna buy a console for one game.

It's a great game. Fairly straightforward and easy difficulty makes the battles... well, easy. The social sim aspects are a massive part of the game, so if that's what has interested you then I'd say it's worth it.

[small]*Having said that, my brother managed play through the entirety of Persona 3 on a none-gaming laptop from 2008 and only encountered framerate issues on one early boss.[/small]

Go for it! In fact, go for both Persona 3 and Persona 4, they are equally freaking awesome!
On PC or PS2 you can emulate Persona 3:FES and original Persona 4.
If you get PSP you can play Persona 3:portable, improved version of original Persona 3 with cool female protagonist.
If you get PS Vita you can play both Persona 4:Golden and Persona 3:portable, both games being superior ports of their original games.

P3 and P4 are without a doubt two of the best turn-based RPGs released in a long time. The broader Shin Megami Tensei series is just awesome in general, actually.

Take that as a recommendation, play these games however you are able to.

If you are not a gamer and don't like , know much about Jrpgs in general, i would say to avoid it. Yes they are great games ... To fans of the genre like myself. While it is possible for an "outsider" to like the game, i wouldn't hold my breath. Do not recommend.

Also the games are on PS2 and psvita only .

Actually, I would say that Persona 4 is the perfect game to introduce someone who doesnt play JRPGS to the genre!

Well, let me just say that everyone has the same hivemind about Persona 4... That you should definitely play it... Rather on your PS2 or, if you have one, on your Vita... Also, if you have a PS3, you can download both Persona 3 Fes and Persoan 3 Portable off PSN...

Frankly, asking if you should play Persona 4 is like asking if you should continue breathing... A little far-fetch in my analogy, sure, but dammit! Those Persona games are the shit and anyone should have a chance to play it, glob dammit!!!

In other words... Play it on one of these recommended devices... The PS2, PS3, PSP, or PS Vita... (unless you're like me and want to play it on ALL the recommended devices...)

Do it man, I've never played a game that's fucked with my emotions so much. It's my favorite game. Objectively, the gameplay is pretty average but the music and the writing for the story and characters is what won me over.

I highly recommend playing Persona 3 FES first though. There's no easy answer as to which is better but I can tell you that Persona 3 is dark and Persona 4 is happy as fuck. Whichever you're more in the mood for.

Do it play Persona 4 PS2's are dirt cheap now and this game is easily my third favorite game of all time. I would also recommend Persona 3 FES if you want to fallow it up with something else. I would say if you haven't played a JRPG before I would say start with Persona 4 as it is much more beginner friendly then Persona 3.

I remember being oh so pleasantly surprised by Persona 4 when a friend gifted it to me. I was in high school at the time and it poked at my brain a bit. The combat is satisfying, the story is simple and interesting, and the characters are great. It even got me into Atlus games in general.

In other words, do it. PS2, PSVita, it all works.

Agreed completely,
I've never so willingly got a bad end as when I thought Ryotaro was responsible for Nanakos death, just thought "fuck it this dudes going in the tv".

Funny thing is I couldn't get into it at all when I played it on ps2 but I must be on my third or fourth playthrough on my Vita.

Play it now by any means necessary!!

I'm used to the Japanese, I've read manga and watched anime for ten years now, so that isn't a problem for me ^___^ I've even studied Japanese and I've been there :D

I do have a Wii...my computer got two processors and can handle The Sims (yes, I've mostly played The Sims) without much problem (the game itself has a few problems). I'm a student so I don't have much money...do the game exist to PC?

What these guys are trying to say is that the game does not exist on PC.
You can however, have your computer emulate the PS2 and play the game that way. It wouldn't cost you a dime. Just google PS2 emulators and follow the steps to download and set it up.

As for Persona 4, I cant recommend it enough. I lost a whole spring break to that game, and there is a poll on this very site that says it the Escapist community's favorite game ever.

If you can afford to play Persona 4 on the Vita, there is no game in the world that I would recommend more. With the exception of Persona 3 Portable on the PSP, which incidentally runs perfectly on a Vita too.

The PS2 version of P4 is excellent but P4 on the Vita I'd hands down the most definitive version of Persona you could play.

The story, characters and setting are wonderful and I honestly believe it should be experienced by everyone that wants to know exactly the kind of potential that games have.

Hell I've lent my Vita and P4G to many people just so they could have the opportunity to play it. Whichever platform you choose though, I'm certain you won't regret it!

If I remember correctly, you're that feminist from the other day right? If you do choose the Vita version then I also recommend checking out Gravity Rush. It had one of the best female protagonists in recent memory. Though the controls may prove a bit tough for someone that hasn't played many games.

I don't have a Vita... :p the first consel and only I bought was the Wii. But I asked people on FB if someone have a PS2 I can borrow. That's cheaper after all. I sit a lot in front of the computer...

Problem with PS2 emulation that it is illegal if you don't have a console to get bios from. If you can borrow ps2 it would be a best thing to do. P4 is well worth a hassle, imo P4G is best game ever made.

Not worth watching until after you've played the game. The anime was specifically written for those who have played the game and already have an understanding of the world and its inhabitants.

The anime was good, but you won't get the same experience from it as you will from the game. I highly recommend watching it AFTER having tried the game.

Maybe one of your friends has a Vita they would loan you. I really do highly recommend playing Persona 4 Golden. The original Persona 4 is very dated and the battle system in Persona 4 Golden is more in depth and exciting than the original.

I know this is kinda off topic but have you tried the Atelier series? If you enjoyed Persona that much, I get the feeling you might also enjoy Atelier Totori and Atelier Meruru on Vita.

You can always get a Vita for free if you can run fast enough.

Joking aside, yes Persona 4 is worth every bit of your time. Avoid the anime until after you've played the game. Get a PS2 not an emulator, I already peer pressured you to break the law once. Someone also mentioned that OG Persona 4 on the PS2 (which I think is still solid) lacks depth in the gameplay department. Thats totally your choice though, either simply go out of your way and play the solid PS2 version or go extreme and get the near-perfect P4Golden.
