The gaming drought this year seems affect me harder than usual and I'm starting to get desperate for a good game, ANY game really. So I make this thread for you to post some of your favorite games, so that people like me might find an interesting game to play. It doesn't matter if they're popular or obscure, what kind of genre they are or on what console they appeared on. The only thing that matters is that you enjoyed them and think others can too. Hopefully someone here can help me out.

The best game I've played in 2014 so far has been Bro Force. It may be in Early Access...

But its still just a joy to play. A simple sidescroller, where you play as your favorite bros from days gone by, like Indiana Brones, Rambro, and MacBrover.

Check out the free mission back, Expendebros!

Gunpoint!

It's a 2D stealth-hacking-puzzle-platforming-punching-people-in-the-face game. Basically, it's Watch Dogs if Watch Dogs had actually been about espionage/sabotage and everything, except it came out a few months before Watch Dogs and is another one of those games that I wouldn't be surprised if people wrote it off because of it having pixel graphics.

It's also got some rather quite enjoyable and silly writing, and the overall package is so slick that it pretty much instantly made me a fan of creator Tom Francis, who was originally just making it in his spare time while he was working another full-time job.

Master of Magic is my favorite 4x strategy game, and probably my favorite game ever. But I doubt you really want to play a game that was released in 1994...

Planetary Annihilation is really fun. It's an RTS that takes many concepts from Supreme Commander and (apparently) Total Annihilation. It's in early access, and while there's only one faction at the moment, it's still a lot of fun. Although I will say I was a little shocked to discover that they are selling skins for your commander for ~$10 each. Which was definitely something I disliked when I first bought it to play with friends, but it's a lot of fun.

Although, of course, it assumes you game on PC. Which you have not yet specified a platform.

Looks pretty interesting. Also worth noting that it's on sale for $2.50 on steam (75% off). But again, that's assuming the OP has a PC.

Well i'll point you to my old faithful Persona 4 which is a total steal if you still own a PS2, it's 50+ hours of gameplay for £20 at most. It's on the Playstation 3 online shop as well and the remake with extra content is on the PS Vita if you have that. Really, there's no excuse to not play it since it's on everything made by Sony in the last two decades.

I also point you towards a few Visual Novels, namely Grisaia no Kaijitsu and Comyu (you can find the download links on places like fuwanovel if you don't know where to look) which are very well made in all departments (story, art, characters, content, pacing, music and so on) but I warn you that Grisaia's Michiru is Best Girl, so much so that every other female character you have ever seen will pale in comparison once you have seen her in action.

Astebreed:
A surprisingly good shoot-em-up for the PC, with a fairly odd story...even for an 'anime type' game.

Beyond Space:
First person shooter in space, think Wing Commander but not as deep, for PC/phone.
It's not the hardest game out there, but it's pretty enough and fun.

Star Wars Empire At War - Forces of Corruption:
I was only able to get this game working properly on my new Win8.1 PC, despite having a WinXP PC that was textbook level for its hardware/software needs. Anyways.
Still, after half a decade or whatever, it's a pretty fun game.
The ground stuff isn't as fun as the space stuff, but both are fun enough that I'm actually going though EACH map to beat.
-Warning: The AI cheats, I don't know how, but the AI cheats.

A Story About My Uncle:
It's like the world of Myst went underground, with the game play of a first person Spider-Man, but based on puzzles not combat.
It's...it's just AMAZING.
Worth far more than what I paid for it.

A Walk In The Dark:
You play as a cat trying to save its owner...yeah, it's one of THOSE games.
It's got that 'dark and foreboding' feel of Limbo, but not nearly as hard which is a good thing.

Played that for the first time this year not a fan of strategy games in general but gotta say its excellent Microprose used to make some great games.

Ill just name some games that I have enjoyed and played recently:-

Under Night in birth extend - only available on PS3 in Japan atm (and arcades) great fighting game from French Bread.

Vanquish - the other game from Platinum ie not the Bayonetta one. I did not like the demo of the game so only bought the actual full game recently heavily discounted and holy hell its balls to the wall insanity pure action all the way really enjoying this game the controls and action are amazing once you actually grasp how the suit works it makes you feel like a total badass.

Towerfall Ascension - great local multiplayer game so much fun but if you havent got someone to play with give it a miss the single player is garbage and not very fun.

You know what? You should try Zanzarah: The Hidden Portal. Yeah, why not. Give it a shot!

It's a fairly shortish 3D game about collecting and battling faeries. It's got elves and dwarves and goblins, which is neat. The faerie battles take place in 1st-person as you fight with the faeries' innate abilities and the ones that you purchase from a floating fat creature. Shit is so fucking cash.

If you like adventure games heavy on the puzzles, you have no excuse not to try Myst Online. It's free!

Other than that, have you played Mirror's Edge?

Welp, Wykydtron already ninja'd my favourite game Persona 4 Golden.

Other than that I've been really digging Tales of Xillia lately. It should be fairly cheap on PSN right now, highly recommended if you like JRPGs. It has a very cool real-time combat system, although your characters still level up like you'd expect.

It's visually gorgeous in terms of aesthetic (colourful as hell), has an interesting story and a strong cast (Elize being my personal favourite). Check it out!

I've only played one game released this year, that being Risen 3: Titan Lords, and I absolutely loved it. Critical reception to it was mixed though - reviewers mostly hated it, which is unfortunate but not unexpected. For someone who has been a fan of the company since around 2005-2006 and understands how their games work though (granted, Risen 2 was pretty bad), I was greatly satisfied with it.

I wouldn't recommend it if you aren't a fan of any of Piranha Bytes' previous games though.

High five for a fellow Astebreed player! =D

OT: Gotta go with Dust: An Elysian Tail. It's probably my fave game of its kind. It's just... so wonderful~ I love the characters and dialogue, the environments are nice, music is amazing, combat flows well... It's all just damn good
