When I was growing up, I had a downright wretched school life. I was picked on, teased, beat up and even once some girl falsely accused me of sexual harassment. The garbage I went through would have been enough to make someone else commit suicide. However, I kept going. I didn't give up and I didn't despair. When I finally got my diploma, hearing the place break into applause, in my mind I was giving all those who bullied me the middle finger and shouting "Fuck you! You Lose! I Win!"

I was wondering what fellow Escapists overcame in their lives that made you feel invincible, even for a short time.

Finishing school had that feeling, and I'm sure plenty of folks here will tell you that. I enjoyed everything about school but the school, so it was good to finally get away.

And then there are the little triumphs every day that give me the same feeling, whether it's beating a video game or breaking my limits at the gym.

Finally finished University, sickness almost knocked me clean out of it.

Two other moments came when I was teaching swimming, felt more proud than immortal, had a little boy, about 7 with dispaxia (really poor motor functions) after a year he was swimming with a woggle (water noodle), hand-eye coodination massivly impoved as did his ability to speak. The second was a young woman, who had plateaud on he swim times, 4 weeks late I knocked her 200m F/C time down by 40 seconds! I was so sad to give those classes up.
