I have a hard time talking face-to-face with people anymore because there are so many things that people have picked up on that drive me up the wall. The main one that makes me want to tear off my own face is: "That was so random." For reasons I can't explain, I FUCKING hate that phrase with every fiber of my being.

In terms of single words--if you can call them words--what bothers me the most is when people actually say internet acronyms out loud, such as "BRB" or "OMG". I mean, really? I was at a baseball game the other night and a guy actually said "OMG" about something. I almost turned around and threw my iced tea in his face. Then, I heard it on the Slice Network. I promptly changed the channel. I just can't do it.

So I ask you, fellow Escapists, what are some words and phrases that get under your skin?

**EDIT** If all you're going to say is "who the hell cares" then bugger off, because I don't care that you don't care. Besides, why are you posting in a discussion forum if all you have to say is that you don't care?

I do hate it when people call things random, or say that someone is crazy when they obviously aren't. It isn't random if the person intended to do it, and they aren't crazy just because they think screaming is funny!

Edit:

Cool beans. Unless somebody can tell me some adorable story about how this abortion of a phrase came to be, just stop it. Stop it right now.
Thank you for reminding me of this abomination of language.

Aahaha! I remember hearing that for the first time... probably five or six years ago. I'm aware it's been around longer than that, but all I could think was, "What the hell does that mean???"

"Supposively," which isn't even a word, or "intensive" when they mean to say that something was intense. OOH! "For all intensive purposes." GRRRR. WRONG!! **EDIT** I KNOW that the sentence is wrong. It's "for all intents and purposes". I KNOW. I was posting it as the mistake, hence the "GRRRR. WRONG!!" after it.

"kk" in response to something.

Exactly this. I'm so glad to have heard [seen] someone else say this.

"Do what?" from someone who didn't understand what you were telling him or her.
But what you were telling him or her was NOT a command, so "Do what?" doesn't even make sense!

Also... "I could care less" when it's supposed to be "I couldn't care less".

Oh my god, like, sixteen year old girls, like, talking like this, like all the time. And oh my god, like, they don't seem to know what they're like going to say and so they like fill in all the gaps.

Be right back, fetching my shotgun.

This drives me nuts too.

Also "minus well" or "mine as well", when they mean to say "might as well".

"Oh my shit!" It was fine when used as a joke to bag out idiots, but then the idiots started using it themselves and now I feel like I need a bath...

"better to love and lost than to never love at all!"

FUCK. YOU. WHOEVER. SAYS. THIS.

seriously. i tried getting something going with this one girl backfired like a horrible "betrayal" plot-twist, and then left a nasty taste afterwards.
now, if i never felt emotions for her, would that nasty taste have come to been in the first place?

Heh... I just watched The Weatherman the other day... one of the first scenes is him waiting in line and some dude starts bothering him. "You're on TV, bro..."
