I'm sure many of you have seen episode 25 of MLP:FiM by now... you know? The one in which Pinkie Pie becomes heavely confused and bemused after all her friends refused to partake to her latest partying extravaganza with really far-fetched excuses, only to grow more confused and paranoid by the minute until her twisted mind finally snaps and she goes on a killing spree.... well ok, that last part didn't happen, but I swear to Hasbro I wouldn't have been surprised if such an act would have actually occurred!
I mean, the entire episode masterfully depicts her slow descend into madness as the Fear of Rejection finds its way in her already confounding psyche, with her happy-go-lucky joyous expressions turning into creepy death glares that would make Freddy Krueger wish he could just wake up from the horryble nightmare.
The defyning moment of the episode comes when she reaches the (obviously wrong) conclusion that her friends had abandoned her, thus her mind finally snaps, her hair loses its tone and fell flat on her face and she starts role-playing a fake party with a bunch of lifeless objects as her guests... and she does their voices. Wow, just wow. I found this episode to be both endearing and terryfing in its own peculiar ways, it's really nothing that hasn't been done before, but it still manages to give us a more in depth knowledge of Pinky Pie's personality and the sheer darkness that inhabits her subconscious mind.
That got me thinking.
There are a lot of cartoon characters out there, from both nostalgic and modern-day shows, even from the most "child-friendly" programs, that seem a bit off... as if they could lose control at any given time and kill somebody, although, in actuality, they never do it (I would keep a close eye to Patrick the Starfish, I don't think he's just atrociously dumb. Also, I never trusted those Carebears... they just creep me out).
Can you point a character from your favourite cartoon and whatnot that only SEEM funny and/or innocent but that, in fact, could be harboring a much darker side?

I really liked this episode for this reason, it was possibly my favorite of the season. Proof there is real depth in the show. The whole paranoia thing was well done.

Just remember, it's a show only for 5 year old girls. Yeah right...

Ever heard of Dexter's Laboratory? During some of the early seasons about a decade ago there were some really disturbing moments... well disturbing when I look back on them with adult eyes. Dexter is a boy genius with an gigantic laboratory in his cupboard where he builds enormous machines and experiments. But his idiotic sister DeeDee constantly finds her way in there and destroys stuff for the fun of it.

The unusual thing about the series was the lack of continuity. In one episode Dexter snaps and joins his sister in her destructive ways, which scares DeeDee once everything he ever worked on is gone as well as his mind. When she cries and runs off, Dexter returns to normal, looks around his ruined life then calmly starts turning a single screw on his desk amongst the ruins of his work. The strange thing is the status quo is back to normal in the next episode so the last episode might as well not have happened. But it didn't matter because the writers didn't mind suspending disbelieve to make a statement about Dexter's mind and facing the consequences of his actions.

There are numerous other examples from that show but that's the one that stuck with me for over a decade.

Pretty much all the ponies have the potential to go completely insane, but not quite to the level reached by pinkie.

Also google 'Pinkie Pie Cupcakes Fanfic'

Stimpy from Ren and Stimpy.

There's this one episode where Ren goes mad and burns all of Stimpy's possessions. It's so brutal and fucked up, nothing a child should watch, but anyway: Stimpy is always bullied and acts so nice but one day he'll snap. One day.

I think everyone on the internet knows about that show in genuine detail ;)

Attention everyone! Disregard that second sentence!
OT:Yeah, atm I can only think about characters in MLP going insane, they tend to do that alot, actually, way to many times.

Ren & Stimpy was a messed up show to begin with... so it doesn't count. Too obvious.

How could anybody write fanfictions, is the questions you should ask.

RENA RYUGU!!!!! Wait a minute...

Yeah, she does flip out and go crazy, and even when she isn't she alternates between obsessive-cute and creepy-disturbing at the flick of a switch - kind of why I love her so much as a character...

Seriously though, on topic, I'd have to say that Buttercup in The Powerpuff Girls had some major issues she needed to work out. And Bubbles was just a little bit too cutesy at times... Also, in Codename: Kids Next Door, there was Numbah Four (the Australian kid). He really needed anger management classes or something, plus there was his irrational loathing of those Rainbow Monkey toys (a mild dislike is fine, but he hated them with a passion :p)...

I remember that exact episode where he frames the Eds. I remember being pissed off at the ending.
