Wellokay then.

Let's start from the top, mm?

I can't tell if you're playing a character or not; if you are, then specific character traits and/or a gimmick would make you more memorable than simply mugging for the camera, which does get rather bothersome after a couple of minutes.

I also don't know by what standards you're judging the game. It's a SNES fighting game from, what, early '90s? Retro reviews are all well and good, but I honestly had no idea if you were judging the game by today's standards (which would be silly, if instinctive), or if you were primarily running with the faded memories of childhood.

I understand the brick-wall nature of some fighting games, but there was no mention of what's decent about the game once you do get the hang of the timing and controls. Assuming there was anything. If nothing else, the game isn't completely arbitrary, as you did finish it with enough practice.

Also the play-through montage that starts at about five minutes in? Kinda... well... irrelevant. It didn't seem to connect with the rest of the review and then there wasn't a recap at the end, so it really just confused me.

And that bit at the end... the "I know you're all thinking it" thing. Haven't the foggiest what that was. Probably an ignorance on my part, but either more explanation or more editing for the sake of your less well-versed viewers might be appreciated.

As for the good things, you speak well for the camera, the video is of excellent quality for a home recording, and your editing skills are great. The cuts from the game fit together well, and they timed up with the script nicely. Maybe pick up the pace just a smidge. You're diction is clear enough that you can go a little faster, shave off some time and maybe not give off the sense of stagnating quite so much. In short, you've got all the technical skills, and good instincts. Perhaps just more practice.

Now, perhaps this is all overly critical of me (I do reviews, too, and I wrote my new script today, so I'm in Critique Mode), so feel free to ignore it if you like.

Please keep doing videos, though. I'm interested to see what you do.

That is.... correct.

Anyway, I can't help but adding that the reason you didn't get so many replies to the amount of views you're getting is because the end of the video goes on way too long, meaning that people will simply go back to the forums before getting to the end so they won't comment.

The rest of the "review" was good but it did feel a bit forced and I saw a lot of the jokes coming a long time before they did.

You saw an executioner fondling the player and the ghost of Ricardo Montalbán possessing a SNES cartridge coming? That's some power of clairvoyance.

Anyways, thanks Savant Crime for your rather in-depth critique. You're right, I haven't really developed a character or anything; I was just kind of was describing it the way that I would to a friend.
As far as the review aspect goes, Stranger of Sorts was right to put quotations around the word review. I wasn't really out to state whether it was good, bad, worth playing or not. I was just using the game as a forum for joke telling.
I'm not sure what to make of the pace. I timed myself reading it at about 120 words a minute. That's pretty quick. I don't know. Maybe I'll give speeding it up a shot.
This was originally made with TGWTG in mind, which is, of course, a better venue for all of the nostalgic references (i.e. Karate Kid montage, Wrath of Khan monologue). I'll admit that these may be lost of a few people.
By the by, you're not familiar with the "KHAN!!!" scream? You're robbing yourself! It's a hilariously awesome moment from a pretty good movie. I definitely recommend the Wrath of Khan if you haven't seen it.
