Pretty much what it says on the title, what places do you want to visit for nerdy reasons?

I'd like to visit:

Yonkers, NY. preferably with a large group of extras, replica military hardware, and tons of fake blood. I'll award a cookie to anyone who guesses why.

Monroeville mall, a holy site for zombie fans. This is the mall where the classic original Dawn of the dead was filmed. I'd take a baseball bat. Just in case.

Wherever they filmed "a town called eureka". Love that show.

Buenos aires. Just to see if they sell t-shirts that say " I went to buenos aires and I say kill em all!". Starship troopers reference, by the way, before I accidentally enrage any buenos aires people.

Cthulu's living room. Also Pirate Bay's main server room. Space wouldn't be a bad place to visit either. I hear that is where Star Wars took place.

Cleveland, Ohio. To find Aperture Science.

Or New Mexico. I hear Black Mesa is hiring.

For years I have been planning to follow the storyline of War Of The Worlds.
You know, find out in which street in Woking the journalist lived, find the Horsell Commons, and then try to take the same route as the narrator, unti I get to London, if possible to exactly the hill where the last dying machine was standing.

I was just in Rome and Florence and counted all the different buildings that Ezio or Altair could jump of off.
I also went to London, tons of Dr.Who materials there.

*raises hand*

Are specific people's residences allowed?

Yeah, I suppose that would be creepy.

*raises hand*

Follow up question, what about being just outside of a specific person's residence?

(More seriously, there's a gravel mine or something along these lines that's been uses as a filming site in many STTNG/DS9/VOY episodes as well as many other TV shows and movies. While specifically barren and plain I still think it would be awesome to walk around.)

Mars. Being a tech-priest for the Omnissiah might be cool.
Also, Vulcan, Alberta, for self-explaining reasons.

Putting these two together, I'd have to say you want to go to Yonkers to recreate the scene from World War Z (great book, by the way).

OT: Wouldn't mind going to Cardiff, Wales, to visit the Roald Dahl Pass since I'm a Doctor Who and Torchwood fan.

Also, Snæfellsjökull in Iceland and the Maelstrom off the Norwegian coast, 'cause Jules Verne is awesome.

and would you count the University of Engineering in Reno because its named after someone with my name (100% my name, except for the order), who was most likely a bit of a nerd: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_William_Mackay

Moscow, and The Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, for Metro 2033 and STALKER respectively. Eastern European places are made really interesting by games.

The Bradbury building in Los Angeles, because BLADERUNNER, duh.

Also, Shirakawa village in the Gifu province of Japan, because that's the village Hinamizawa is based on (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni).

correct, you get a cookie. I'm also slightly curious as to whether they make anything out of it to get some nerd tourism. Anyone here live in or visited Yonkers? Do they have anything zack related set up?
