Hey Escapist.

I've flown, truth be told, only about six times in my entire life. I have to say I love the experience of it all and I always think back to those who dreamed of the day we would take it for granted.

So, how often have you flown? Any interesting tales? Any aspirations to become a pilot yourself?

Go.

I've flown a few times, its not that scary truth be told and I was told by one of my friends that it was the most terrifying experience of his life.

As for do I want to be a pilot, no I don't but my cousin is a pilot and he flies a private jet and he's flown some celebrities too.

I have flown a plane before when I was like 16 as part of a program in scouts.

I like flying but prefer driving if it is somewhere I can feasibly drive to(ie: up to and through canada/mexico or through the US)

I don't know... I've probably flown 10-16 times. I have also flown in a glider once when I was quite a bit younger.

I would like to get a private pilot's license someday as a matter of fact.

I've flown quite a few times, and while I DO get unnerved by the obvious fears, I'm somewhat comforted by the fact I'm WAAAY more likely to be hit by a car than be in an aircraft accident.

I fly at least 1 or 2 times a year, since I visit relatives in Canada quite often.

I've flown probably under two dozens times, I don't hate it or like it. The only time I'm uneasy is when I get up to use the toilet, I can't help but think what would happen if cabin burst open while I was just walking down the aisle. It's an irrational fear, but I'm always relieve when I buckle myself back in.

I have flown many times, about 20 or so and nothing of note has happened the entire time. I want to keep it that way.

I absolutely love flying, not so much commercial flying but private. I started flying my uncle's cesna when I was 11 and now about 8to years later I've got my private pilots liscense. Just the feeling of a small plane taking off looking out the window only a couple thousand feet off the ground is simply amazing.

I've probably flown a grand total of 12 times or so. I've been a fan of aviation since I was 10 years old, so I enjoy airplane flights. I always get a slight thrill the first few seconds after the plane leaves the ground.

The one exception was when I had to fly from Dallas to London. It gets rather boring when you're flying over a featureless ocean for 8 hours.

Never been on one, would like to though. had a great uncle and an uncle in the air force. Great uncle was cool, but something of a pretentious fly boy dick. Uncle was a bit more reserved, but still cool.

I have flown many of times I can't count really. I have been around planes and airports quite a bit while growing up.
but the good thing is my dad works for the IT department of a major airline. soo I get to do neat things like dick around in the hanger and look inside of the planes.
also did you know that planes run on Kerosene? That is what Jet fuel is! The mechanics usually take the fuel that has been sitting in the plane (because it can not be in the tank when it is being done) when It is getting an inspection so they mixed it with a bit of diesel ( I think) and ta da car fuel!
My cousin is also a pilot. so it is fun flying around with him.

Yes, I want to be a pilot. Yes, I have taken some lessons on a small plane, a Cessna 172. I did everything but land it and taxi to the runway. They even let me take off.

In a lot of ways, it's easier than driving. There is no throttle to continuously hold, no pedestrians to avoid, and usually not much of anything to hit once you get up there. However, when you do want to do something like ascend or descend, there's quite a bit to do. Also, from what I've heard, instrument flying(above the clouds) is one part boring one part stressful to stick to the towers' instructions as closely as possible.

Im actually training for my pilot's license now, so needless to say I've flown quite a bit.

My most interesting story is probably one time right after taking off in a Cessna 152(which is much more interesting than a jumbo jet), after we reach our cruise altitude my instructor says we need to close our windows. As I reach over to do that, I realize that my DOOR WAS OPEN. Needless to say I slammed that ***** as quick as possible. My instructor was just like "YOUR DOOR WAS OPEN!?!?!?!?! We don't have parachutes!!!"

I love flying, probably done it around 10 times, i'm always glued to the window(s) with my glasses on
But i really don't want to do it anymore without some kind of protection, if i have a reasonable choice that is.
I keep seeing all these crashes where the entirety of the plane is burnt to a crisp, i realize the accident ratio is extremely low, but there's a more plausible danger.
When i flew to uppsala earlier this summer i brought with me my geiger counter, and at highest altitude, that bastard was clicking like a poorly encoded youtube music video.
In other words, much more than at home.

Depends what you mean by flying, because I've been in small prop aircraft that never exceed a few thousand feet, passenger jets and helicopters. Hate commercial flights because the pressure change fucks up my head for at least a week, so I can rarely enjoy holidays. Helicopters are... OK, not much of an opinion on them, while prop aircraft are fun, if a bit noisy.

I've flown a lot throughout my life. I did find it kind of exciting and fun as a kid but it loses it's shine when you're bound for over 10 hours straight.

Flown at least 16 times in my life. Nothing intresting has ever happened.
My mom was on a flight home from Finland a few days(we live in Sweden) though and her plane almost crashed. Luckily they had an awesome pilot.

Stick to flying spaceships, more fun ;-)
