Hi guys,
ok I'm going to hold my hand up here from the start and admit I must be a bit daft!
I have just taken out a PlayStation+ sub(that isn't why I'm daft though), well maybe it is but that's another conversation.

Having downloaded uncharted 3 from PS+ I am left with 3 files on the system.
3d movies
2d movies
and uncharted 3 single player game.
The only option on these files is to install them, which I do one after the other.
This then leaves me with a file in the game data utility folder for uncharted 3 of about 35GB.

The only option on this file is, information and delete.

So my question is....How do I launch the freaking game!!

Save me cause I must be creaking up I think.

Oh yeah, you're missing the MP part. About 4 gigs I believe. Need it to play the SP for some reason. :/

Fuck I'm behind the times... I've never owned a PS3(Fan of the PS2 though) and as such I've largely thought of Uncharted as being a Pre-dominantly SP, possibly with the possibility of Co-op but it's always seemed SP. The MP plague strikes again?

That's ps3 exclusives for you. Blue Rays can 50 gigs of data. I believe MGS4 used most of it too, but that game can't be downloaded. Its also why games like Rage and FFXIII launched on the Xbox with like 4 disks. Hell, I was shocked when I downloaded Vanquish and it was 11 fucking gigs

Yeah, Uncharted 3 is 40 gigs according to its PS store description. I have trouble with getting a ton of my PS plus games cause our best 'net hereabouts has an 80 gig a month cap.

That's not uncommon, BF3 with all map packs is pushing 50GB.

That's the way games are going, everyone wants them to look good at 1080p+ and that takes a lot of huge texture files. It's also why lots of people groaned when the Xbone was announced with a 500GB non-replacable hard disk. Game are getting bigger... and bigger.

We're a long way from my dad groaning that Mech Warrrior 2 needed 220mb of disc space.

It's not actually 40 gigs, a lot of that is extras I think. I went through, and there's a bunch of crap. Also, since you have PS+, go download Malicious. It rules.

Yeah, it's a pretty fucking big game.

Naughty Dog actually went through 20+ terabytes worth of assets making it.

Imagine how much shit they had to take out just to make the game fit on a single blu-ray.

That's not all... You won't be able to download the game unless you have double the storage space in harddrive. If you wanted to download a 35gb game, you need to have 70gb available.

Due to various reasons *cough*piracy*cough* the PS3 chose to deliver all games by Blu-Ray technology which contains uncompressed - or barely - textures and video that bloats the size significantly.

Max Payne 3 was about 28 Gigs for the PC so its not unheard of. That and lots of MMOs are bigger due to their nature.
