i need help!!!

i have a white xbox 360 fat, and i want to connect it to my PC monitor (which is HDMI) using a HDMI cable but i cant get any sound. how can i get sound. will i have to buy a HDMI to DVI cable instead. my monitor has got speakers.

i was suggested to use the A/V cable the comes with the Xbox to uses just for sound but the cable is to fat to allow the HDMI cable to plug in, can it it be shaved smaller?

please help me!

you can either buy the overpriced modified version of the a/v cable or you can open up the oversized one and modify the casing so it will fit

Ok here's the skinny.
The input on your built-in speakers is probably a seperate 3.5mm jack, either on an attached flying lead or a socket on the monitor itself.

You'll need:
1x Standard HDMI cable
1x Xbox360 audio breakout cable aka HDMI adaptor (plugs into the big AV socket on the back of the console and has 2 phono sockets on it)
1x 3.5mm to L+R Phono cable

Connect the HDMI cable as usual, then the adaptor, then use the 3.5mm to Phono cable to connect sound.

Sorry for two in a row but NEVER EVER modify an adaptor that you don't understand the workings of, best case you'll break it, worst case you may end up knackering an expensive piece of AV equipment.
