It's probably happened to most of, be it any console of any age.

What are some of the worst times it's ever happened to you?

Playing someone online in a ranked match in Soul Calibur V it was a pretty close match but I was just about to deliver the final blow they were knocked down any tap would do it and the controller stops working so they get up and curb stomp me taking the round and match I was a bit salty over that.

I thought the controller was plugged in but it wasnt pushed in all the way I found out valuable seconds later, seconds that cost me the game damn it.

I'm absolutely positive this is gonna happen during a Dark Soul's boss fight so I change rechargeable batteries each play session. I don't usually play online so if it ever does go off the game just pauses.

In Multiplayer while I'm getting a kill streak in Halo:Reach. To this day, I keep the charger close to me at all times.

Back in the day, our Sega Genesis controllers eventually ended up getting pretty finicky and so in the middle of running full-speed through a stage in Sonic the controller would suddenly stop responding and I would need to fiddle around with it until it would work again.

So glad that the enemies always had set paths and didn't chase you down...

Wireless mouse. :(.

I once crapped out right in the middle of a group of enemies in WoW. Unhappy times were had.

See, most games pause when the controller disconnects (although nothing can be done about multiplayer), but a wireless mouse is a different matter, you just have to guess.

Well anytime that happens the game usually pauses automatically so no problems there.

However I did have one incident playing Assassins Creed. I was surrounded, getting the stuffing knocked out of me by 4 templars and just sort of lost my shit. Kinda dropped/threw the controller in frustration and anger, then to my horror when I tried to get it back, I couldn't find it. The game was unpaused, the templars were moving in fast, and I absolutely could not see where my controller landed. Looked around the chair, under the chair, under the TV, around the TV, it was no where to be found.

I sat watching in horror and in a half-way laughing mode for the absurdity of the situation as the templars cut Altair down like a sack of grain.

KingdomHeart 2 during the Sephiroth fight on the hardest mode when I was just about to kill him and then I disconnect.
I'm dead and I have to try again. I got so annoyed.
Also I had a wack wireless mouse for a while, that screwed me at the most desperate times.
One time in LoL I was coordinating an attack and said go in, we all ran in to the fight and then my mouse died and so did we.

That only happens to me on PS3 when I forget to unplug my controller. I'm also rather lucky with it becuase it never happens at a particularly inconvenient time. It's always during a cutscene or some other time when I'm not being attacked.

Whenever I'm shooting at someone and I haven't quite killed them yet or when I;m trying to run out of the killing zone. My batteries almost always seem to wait until I'm in those sort of situations to die.

I'm still angry at losing Mario Party due to my Wiimote failing me at my friends place. I was winning too! D:

That happens sometimes but it's rarely too bad. What was a lot worse was when you accidently held down a button or direction on old controllers and you'd knock out the calibration. So your character would just be stuck running in a single direction even if you weren't touching the controller. That scared the everloving shit out of me when it first happened while I was playing Sonic on the megadrive. I figured it out eventually.

For me it is usually battery related, that is the main reason I prefer corded controllers over battery pack/charge controllers.

The worst times it can happen to me is playing a FPS online. Uhg horrible. Not to mention that I never switch the battery until it is completely dead, so I get several battery disconnects until I finally get annoyed enough to change battery.

I can vouch for that. Back when I was playing WoW we had a few people using wireless mice.

Most other games even in the multiplayer it's not much of a biggie, so you get killed a few times or lose a 20 minute match. In an MMO that's disaster for 25+ people.

...Speaking of: I bet the pinnacle of that would be EVE. I don't remember it being particularly mouse-demanding when I was playing the trial. But if you cause your fleet or corp to lose? Boy oh boy...

Worst. "oops". evah.

Playing Red Dead Redemption, controller started playing up without properly disconnecting. GOT MAULED BY A COUGAR EVERY DAMN TIME. Useless piece of junk. However, I'm primarily a PC gamer so I don't have many stories to tell regarding disconnects. Don't trust wireless keyboards and mice.

Oh, one time while playing Super Smash Bros. Melee a mate of mine disconnected my controller during a 2v2 we were having. It was me against both of them with a total of 3 lives for each time. (3 for me, 0 for my partner, 2 and 1 for the other guys) He robbed me of a life, and in the end the victory, so we all agreed it was fair I get one free punch. I robbed his arm of feeling for the next fifteen minutes in the sweetest punch I ever threw. He hasn't tried it since!
