I've loved Pokemon since I was 5 years old. Pokemon Crystal helped me learn how to read. And as the franchise continues to expand, I notice that there are still many teenagers and/or adults playing the games. Fine by me! But of course we all have excuses to use on our skeptic friends?

Not really necessary for me, people grew up playing Pokémon around here so I can just say I'm being nostalgic, which is true.

Hello, I'm Kitsune, and I've been a Pokefan for the past 10 years.

I don't have to make excuses though, saying that "It's Pokemon" is good enough.

... So is this thread about the excuses we use to explain why we are playing a "kiddy game" like Pokemon?
Because I do not use any excuse. I pretty much say it like it is.

"It keeps me entertained and I do not give a fuck what anyone thinks. Especially you."

Then I insult their intelligence and scowl at them until they get uncomfortable and bugger off.

I missed it, too old. I was about 12 / 13 / 14 around that when it all started.

Can't remember exactly when it started on tv here but I was 12 in '96 when the games started...don't see the appeal...

Hell no. A lot of my close friends still play Pokemon. I don't feel shame mentioning it to them, or anyone. Besides, Pokemon is an incredibly solid RPG, story aside. Why should I feel ashamed for playing a quality title?

What I'm getting at is "What do you say to the people who question your liking for it"?
I know not a single person who has ever questioned why I like Pokemon.

Then I guess I just live in a town of idiots.....Makes sense, seeing as we have a contaminated water supply.

I will play Pokemon until a devastatingly bad generation scares me away for good. I've been playing for about 12 years and I'm still just as addicted. Can't say I like the direction the artwork is moving in though.

I throw my plastic pokeball and yell: "Gengar I choose you! Use Hypnotize and Dream Eater! Faint our enemies!"

Seriously though I just say that it's a well done RPG. Why shouldn't I play it.

Yea I don't know really anyone from my town that plays games. It's a small town.

Don't feel bad, there are only about eight of us in our town who play the game. The rest go to out to party, get drunk and make huge mistakes.

I don't play it anymore and I kinda regret it. Its not like I saved the last cartridge I had for a Pokemon game(Emerald). I was stupid enough to throw it into the fucking garbage when I was about 12 or 13, thinking it was childish. I regret doing that. And there's like no free Pokemon games out there and please don't mention that stupid Pokemon MMO. The damn thing doesn't even download.

I don't usually tell people I play it unless I know they won't laugh at me for it.

And if someone does, I say it is a good game and you know it!
