I've checked out Serebii.net and was pleased to see that the full Pokedex for Sun and Moon has been revealed! All of the new Pokemon are represented including what moves they learn, when they evolve, Z-Moves they can use, etc etc etc and I'm curious what everybody thinks about the pre-launch info dump.
First I want to talk about exclusives: I wanted Moon because of course I freaking did but Solgaleo (and my GF also wanting Moon) was enough for me to say, "eh, Sun is good enough for me". I like how Lycanroc looks in Sun more than how it looks in Moon anyway. Other than that, here's the full on list of exclusives:
I really wanted Oranguru but other than that, I don't mind the exclusives turning out as they turned out. Drampa looks cool but it doesn't evolve and if I'm being 100% honest with myself, I almost never use Pokemon who are single-form because I am a monster.
When it comes to the new Pokemon as a whole, I've said from the beginning and even now that we know what they look like, this is my favorite generation of starters. I like all three very much and it's going to be difficult for me to make a final choice once I get my copy of the game. When it comes to the Ultra Beasts, I'm still not sure what I think of them...It's easier for me to think of them as Legendary Pokemon but Legendary in the way that Mewtwo is (if I understand them correctly that is), as man-made Pokemon. I like how a couple of them look but to use them as Pokemon or Legendary Pokemon just seems weird to me and I can't put my finger on why. When it comes to Alolan Variants of gen 1 Pokemon, I'm mostly ambivalent: some of the designs are pretty good (Grimer/Muk) but I don't hate any of the designs. As for the new typing for Alolan variations, it seems weird that Exeggutar is part Dragon now and another one is part Electric for some strange reason...Marowak being a fire/ghost is a slice of fried awesome though and I like how Sandshrew and Vulpix are ice now because I like it weird baby.
I'm having trouble finding which previous Pokemon are going to be unavailable...Serebii seems to think Joltik is going to be unavailable in Sun/Moon which is a shame because I was hoping to use a Galvantula and Vikavolt together since I love electric bugs.
When it comes to the new Pokemon in general, there isn't a single generation that I disliked but there are some generations that I liked more than others...obviously...If I were to pick a least favorite without counting Sun/Moon, it would be either gen 3 with its prehistoric Pokemon who I hated and overall "meh" new Pokemon...and Castform, or gen 4 with its new babies and evloutions from previous generations...and Chatot. If you were to ask me which generation I disliked the most while counting the Sun/Moon Pokemon I would still say either gen 3 or 4 because I didn't like Kecleon, Gulpin/Swalot, Shellos/Gastrodon or, Bronzor/Bronzong.
So how does the Sun/Moon Pokedex stack up anyway? Well, you tell me:

I love the Starters but that's old news. The Pikipek line really appeals to me even though it's another normal/flying group while just last gen we had the fire/flying Tailow line. Yungoose/Gumshoos remind me a bit too much of Zigzagoon and Linoone, right down to those four being normal types. I love the Grubbin line because it's not another fast-track to a butterfly or moth or bee like in previous generations (and as I said before, I love the elec/bug typing). I'm from Maryland so take a guess on my thoughts on Crabrawler and its evolution (it's positive). Oricorio was one that I like the concept of but don't see myself using. Cutiefly/Ribombee are a pair that I like mainly for aesthetic reasons and I don't see myself using them like I will with Vikavolt. To keep myself from building another text wall, there are some new Pokemon I don't like in Sun/Moon; mainly the Ultra Beasts, Bruxish, Pyukumuku, Comfey, the Bounsweet line and the Formantis line.
I really liked some of the Pokemon who have been revealed previously but it's revealed here that they don't evolve. I'm glad that Salandit, Crabrawler, and Wimpod do evolve but then there are some Pokemon who seemed like they would absolutely be base forms but who...don't evolve.
There are a few who don't evolve who don't surprise me as much as others. After all, Marril was the only Pikachu clone who did have a full evolutionary line. Some of the bigger (larger) Pokemon on my spoiler-list who don't evolve aren't very surprising either since there's a history of this kind of thing too. Then there are a couple who only evolve once which I'm also fine with if a little surprised. I could have sworn that Salandit would have 2 evolutions based on the Sandile line.
On the whole, I'm happy with how the Pokemon Sun/Moon Pokedex turned out. I can't wait to actually play the game in the next day or two since it's out tomorrow but I'm not 100% sure if I'll have my copy by then or later. What do you think? Is this the worst Pokedex ever? Best? Somewhere in-between? One of the Ultra Beasts is just a bunch of wires lashed together but it's still not as weird to me as a set of keys or a 3-Pokemon line of Ice Creams...actually I quite liked the Ice Cream Pokemon...

There isn't a new Eevee evolution here either which is kind of strange but not very. There are already a ton of Eeveelutions after all.
