Now that it's a new year, I was wondering how Escapists are saying the year 2010. Seeing as we've spent the last decade saying 'two thousand and x', some people say 'two thousand and ten', but I've noticed a lot of people, including myself, using the snappier 'twenty ten'. And some people seem to switch between the two. But how do you say it?

Twenty-Ten is correct way of saying it.

1998 is not called "One-Thousand-Nine-Hundred-Ninety-Eight" it's called "Nineteen-Ninety-Eight"

Sorry to say it but, use the Search Bar. (Link coming soon)
This was done already in the past week. Repeat threads don't go down well.

Last year was two thousand and nine, next year will be two thousand and eleven but this year is definitely twenty ten.

Really? OK, sorry. I did check the first ten pages of the search bar, but nothing like this came up.

I would say this is the stupidest debate I've ever heard, but unfortunately I've seen some really stupid debates in my time...

This is probably one of the top five though.

S'alright, at least you searched. It had quite an awkward title and I'm struggling to find it in my previous posts, mostly because I post way too much.

Two thousand ten

Why do people keep adding "and"?
Because two thousand ten = 2000 10

Two thousand and ten = 2010 (basically it means 2000 + 10).

OT: Which is how I say it.

Yeah, but it's more normal to say* two thousand ten
Oh, and no, it would have to be plus to be right in my opinion

I haven't actually heard anyone say it that way.
Everyone always puts in the "and".

Well, at least where I live. Maybe it's different for you. =]
